We will need more info to really answer your questions, such as what boat you are looking at, how large of battery packs, etc. In regard to being faster than Nikko and Tyco, you are comparing Yugo's to Corvettes. Nikko's and Tyco's ARE NOT high performance boats. They are toy store toys for those who want to get on the water without spending any money, or more for children to play in the pool with.

im looking at basically any in that price range that are rtr and pretty decent boats..the battery packs i have right now that i use in my stampede are 1500 and some 1800's..so that would be the packs i would also use in the boat

here are some of the boats im looking at hobbico aquacraft hammer, tower hobbies turbo vee 2,kyosho sun storm, and the kyosho bladerunner
go to www.mmeu.com go to Terry Davis who makes the UFO at 22" for $45.00 and can take a beating like nobodies business. Put motor at 6" coupler end and cg at 29% and batteries ( saddle pack ) at 7 1/2" or 7 1/4'. use a 13/3 motor with a 632 prop. Watercool can and brush hood and use GOOD cells. You won't regret this system and mine was made of black Good stuff.

Are you referring to carbon fiber? It is black and almost indestructable.

how much did it cost to build your boat
You don't build this boat. No, it is .064 thick and weights 10 oz.. I would buy another but i just bought a prototype from Ray Fuller for $75.00 , that was lazer cut. The one you're referring to is deep vee.
