here's a pic of my new paint job. basic black. i had a hard time finding a way to make my guiness decals (long story) so maybe another day! i'm not much of a painter and this is only my second paint job, so it's not perfect.

the next two show the engine installation and the re-mounted transom. the engine is bone stock...for now. i had been out of the hobby for a while when i set this boat back up and forgot how to do it! and since then i've been too lazy to put it back the right way.

You have to remember, it was your choise to go into the (ugh)Army as a chopper basher with a BFH fettish :D BTW, Doc, would you like to hear disgusting? Just got my 20 year old camera out of the shop after getting it overhauled and repaired. Total cost was $175.00, more or less  The girlfriend just put a "state of the art" autofocusing camera on layaway. It cost her about the same to BUY a camera body as it cost me to repair mine  The only thing that makes this tolerable is my camera is a Pentax Super Program and hers is a Pentax ZX60. Any lense her camera can use mine can, though her camera can't use every lens mine can :D Needless to say, she spent another $175.00 for a 28-90 autofocus zoom lens while I spent another $150.00 for a 75-300 autofocus automatic zoom, even though my camera doesn't have autofocus capability. You know what this means, don't you? It's going to be that much longer till I get my boats on the water  It also means I might be able to send you some pics of my progress, though I will probably have to buy a scanner to do it

just wait...i'm trying to save up about $5000 to put a racing engine into my '87 mitsubishi!!!!! and it's not a BFH fettish...it's more like, well, uh...ok...so it's a fettish. but BFH's are sooooo coooooool!!! especially when you get to whack a 6 million dollar aircraft with one :D if i play my cards right, i can save the money i need by the end of august to get an engine for my hawk hydro. that...or i could put larger rear sponsons on it and make it an outboard...i've still got that race motor laying around. this hobby is crazy :D

BoatDoc, Love the boot blousers on the radio box! LMAO! (25 cent a pair) LOL.

Btw, the boat I bought is new, but at a much discounted price. Just happened to be in the right place at the right time. You think I'm crazy and can afford this stuff? LOL.

The wife has been itching to buy a new touring bike. Yamaha FJR 1300.

I told her she'd have to sell the one she's got now first, 600 Shadow.

those FJRs are real nice but yamaha wont import them into the states for some reason

not the 1300 anyhow senseless if you ask me

tha blackbird the busa and the ZX12 have proven theres a good market here for big fast high speed touring bikes

BIG world of difference from the shadow

i went from an old honda cb750 (the old 750four from when we were kids a 77) onto a 92 cbr1000f

JESUS what a difference

i imagine it would be comparable to you guys going from the shadow to a FJR

see how much trouble you have at keeping it under 100 for awhile
LOL

i take the expressway to work and EVERYTIME i would look down at the speedo 110-115LOL

the worst thing is that it doesnt FEEL like your going FAST

not till you hit like 130 or so anyways

Scott old buddy, this bike would be for my wife. She's the bike rider in the family, not me. lol. She knows what she's getting into because she's been dreaming about a BMW 1100 sport tourer & wants me to get one also so we can make a few weekend trips.

I've had my share of riding times: Yamaha 80 dirt bike, Honda 125 dirt, Honda Rebel 400, & my last was a '92 Ninja 750 (the tamer version) that I kept for almost five years and put a lot of miles on.

Just don't have the interest in getting back on them again. Might rider hers once in a while but thats it. She's had it parked for the last year or so since our daughter has been around.

Btw, I thought they were importing a few of the FJR's to the states? But then again, they haven't done an article on them in a while. I subscribe to Sport Rider, Cycle World & Motorcyclist magazines so we pretty much stay on top of things.

Never knew you rode.

i havent been on top of things lately i know they WERENT inporting the 1300 but they might be by now

ive ALWAYS ridden lol im 36 now and have went a grand total of 2 months since i was 16 without a street bike and grew up with dirt bikes

2 years ago we bought a house and sold the CBR to try to put together some of the closing costs but i only went about 6 weeks without a bike

currently on a 82 suzuki gs1100 1340cc bore kit falicon crank APE cams 42mm flatslides have it set up as a street/strip bike no 1/4 numbers yet but it made 113ponies on the dyno

buddy of mine has a 79 gs750 with low compression wants like 200 for it

thinking about buying that and chopperizing it

id LOVE if my wife rode but she likes to be on the back and thats it

sorry to have comandeered your thread doc
boat looks real good
black ALWAYS works for anything
