Had a Stadium Truck for about 2 monts now, 1st real RC car, love it! :)
I want to start racing at a nice local track, they have off road and will have on road soon (both asphalt outdoors and carpet for winter season).
I plan to race the truck and want to buy a street car for the electric asphalt and carpet classes.
Recommendations???
thanks!

what u should do is find what ur LHS has good parts support for-it would suck to have to order and wait for parts to come when u break something-
there are many great kits out...
team associated tc3
losi xxx-s
xray t1
alex racing barracuda
yokomo MR-4TC
hpi pro4
THE LIST GOES ON

Thanks Dub.
My LHS's here have both the TC3 and XXX-S in stock, and stock some parts. (But not nearly as many parts as off-road nitro/electric, they have TONS of those...)
I see the TC3 has a shaft drive whereas the Losi XXX-s has a belt. Any thoughts on which is better?
thanks for the advice.

They way you can break it down on what to get is like this...
Rocks and Desbre - Belts are more susuptable to rocks and what not getting stuck, that tears betls and thats bad.
Run time - Belts are easyer on the motor. Shafts kill batterys and run time, belts have the tendacy to be smoother.
Launching - Of course, shafts launch better just due to the fact that its all direct.

If you get an AE, Team Losi or tamiya car you will be fine. There are other cars that are as good or better but these are popular brands and easy to get parts for. As for belts vs. shaft I think you wouldn't have problems with eather if you clean your drivetrain and stay way from rocks and things that could get stuck. :)

Thanks for the advice, gang.
I'm on a tight budget to able to spend gobs of cash for hop ups, so I need to get a solid, basic car to race for fun, and hopefully my kids will get into it down the road.
I'm thinking 1st, best hop up would be tires for the track conditions? Maybe a good motor next?
I had the XXX-S and TC3. The TC3 was my favorite on carpet as it had the most punch and was easier to drive. I also like how the droop screws are, don't warp the bumpers.
That said, both vehicles have weak rear hub carriers and the TC3 was also prone to breaking front knuckles. Best bet to buy the BRP protection stuff and put it on, makes some for both vehicles.
For durability, those X-Ray cars are beasts. If I ever got back into touring, I probably would go with an X-Ray.

thanks everyone!
this just keeps getting better! I just found out the full glory of my local LHS. they have an oval dirt, and off road course with lots of bumps and jumps, they are building an 8000 sq ft building for the LHS and a carpet track, plus in a month they will have an asphalt course started construction. 4 types of tracks all right there, with a computer lap counter system! they get guys coming from a few hours away to race each weekend, 60+ guys just in the on road. All 2 miles from my house. Lucky me!
