Hi, i have some questions about these motors. First of all, are they really worth the $60? I was looking at the 14x2 for my new xxx-4 coming in the mail and it looks awesome. I was wondering how long you could go before replacing brushes, and what ESC you guys would reccomend for that motor?

Well, I still haven't tried one for myself, but plenty of my friends have, & they all REALLY seem to like them. However, if you're looking for the most power for a given wind, then they may not be the best solution(most everyone I know says they seem to run about like a different brand motor of 1 turn more, so they'd say a Revolution 12 turn would run like the others' 13's), but they seem to more than make up for it in the low brush & comm wear. Guys are actually putting as many as 20 runs on one before even thinking about cutting the comm or changing the brushes(as opposed to doing that about every 1-4 runs with more conventional motors), & they're saying that the motor's power is every bit as good when it's time to rebuild as when it's fresh from one(only thing, I'm not sure if they mean with Orion's Sprint brush compound or the Enduro one, but they seem very happy with the balance of power & long life regardless). And of course, now they're offering a conversion kit for other motors, so those of us with Epic, TOP or Yokomo-based motors can now set them up to use the Revolution's endbell & brushes(& it's VERY tempting to try, indeed). It pretty much has me convinced that the next handwound mod I buy will likely be a Revolution....

Oh, & as for what ESC to use with them, well, it IS a serious racing motor, so I'd try to buy the best ESC I could afford(& I'm still partial to Novak's GT7, mine works beautifully).... ;)

Awesome. Well, the thing is i own a brushless xxx-t, and i just picked up this xxx-4. The only electronics i have are a novak explorer 2 and 15x2 motor. I really like the idea of little maintainence without going brushless. But who knows, i could end up running the revolution in my truck. I was thinking about an LRP IPC Sport or something?

One thing to conceder is if you put the brushless in the XXX-4 it will get scraped up a bit if you run it off-road. The motor I use is an old Peak Aurora can for that reason. I will be putting on a Revolution endbell as soon as I can find one for it. The enduro brushes are the long lasting ones.
