I thought I would ask everyone what their first kit was and how the build went. Mine was a Factory Team TC3 and the build went ok. I stripped a lot of the aluminium screws as I tried to screw them straight into the graphite with the included allen keys :( I am coming into my third build now (yes I am very new to all this) and hopefully it will be flawless. I have invested in some very good tools so there is no excuse this time. I got a set of Hudy drivers, Tamiya needle nose pliers and side cutters. Anyway lets hear how you guys went.

Mine was a T3. Everything went ok but it took 2 weeks to finish it because I had very little free time to finish it.

Never thought I would be "old school" but my first build was a Traxxas SRT (old version) in 1997. I guess compared to most people on here im a veteran. Since then the "builds" have gotten kind of out of hand :)

my first kit that i built was a team losi street weapon iwc. It took me approx three months to build it. There were missing parts, and when i asked for replacements, they sent me the wrong parts again. Finally they got it correct after sending me 50$ worth of other parts.

my first build was an old Tokyo Marui Big Bear Datsun 1/12 monster truck( kinda like the tamiya lunch box), well it was kinda my dads build i was 8 so i probaly just made it harder for him to put it together. After that died a slow and pain full death I got a losi Jr.T, wich suprisingly is still alive and kicking some a**! That set me down the road that I have never come back from, the road we call rc.

After owning two RTR's, I will hopefully building a NTC3 by the end of July.

By the way, you veterans keep the R/C world going. I can't wait until I can claim all that you guys can. :)

My first build was a Tamiya Frog. It took me the better part of two days to get that finished. How funny is that? It was so fun though. 17 years later and 17 cars later, I still enjoy it. No RTRs for me. I wish that REVO would come in kit form. :(

Tamiya TA03R. Those were good times though even though I stripped a few screws, didn't remove flashings, and rushed through the build.

First build was a Tamiya Blackfoot 15 years ago. I was scared to death when I saw all the parts in so many different bags back then and now I am a design engineer, creating products with far more components and increased complexity.

Hi, I'm new here... thought I'd chime in:

First build: Tamiya Frog. Had that thing so modified by the time I got rid of it.. (ESC (Novak 4.. long before the T series), thorpe ball diff, new suspension, etc) What a blast that car was.

When I was 13 I bought myself a Tamiya Toyota Tom's 12th scale pan car... with the old Twister motor in there that thing was sooooo fast!

On to the Kyosho Optima, then The Turbo Optima Mid SE (Japanese version), the Turbo Ultima.....

There was an RC10 and a Wild Willy in there too somewhere...

I had to totally rebuild my Emaxx once...Broke 3 Bulkheads, both chassis braces, and snapped the chassis in 3 pieces  :D

Mauri's Landcruiser was my 2nd. The Tamiya Lunch Box, my first. I tried assembling a Sand Scorcher from new spare parts at first, but never rustled up all the peices. Oh well, at least I have a historical front suspension to look at!

First build for me was a Panda Stadium truck around the 6th or 7th grade. I had a buddy in my neighborhood that had 2 Kyoshos, so he helped me a little. Went fine till I decided to brush paint the body white. I grabbed a brush from the tool box and just assumed that it was clean. My white body turned a nice shade of pink.

Mine was a Tamiya M01 Fiat Abarth. Very easy to handle in such an small track we used to race on. With a non rebuildable 17T was fast enought to beat touring cars.

Cox scorpion half of it had to be reassembled several times instructions were very confusing especially not knowing the lingo. The 2nd 12E went better, since some experience was learned from the first debacko better instructions and drawings also aided in a better build.

My first was the Tamyia Pajero my father got me for christmas. Was fun to build and I still have it. Sucked right then as I live in NY and there was snow. I still like to build my cars I think it's half the fun.

My first car was a Tamiya Hotshot, my parents paid to have it built so I could use it on Christmas Day. However, I broke it and had to fix it. I became the master of tearing that thing down and rebuilding.

So technically, my first build was the RC10 FT B4 I bought last February :D

Gold tub RC10 with the 6-gear tranny. I remember asking my parents for a Stealth tranny for Christmas a year later (they were $100 at the time  ) and WOW... it made an amazing difference.

Didn't race, but sure bashed the crap out of it. Sold it for $100 a few years later to fund a portable CD player.

Anyone remember this company????

I do, and they actually still make a few RC's. (mostly tanks). Now they are one of the biggest airsoft manufacturers around. (Just ask Miller)

Anyway, my first build was a Factory Team RC10GT. I built it two summers ago, and I have to say the truck is awsome. People go on and on about how hard kits are to build, and I really don't understand all the fuss. I actually prefer building them myself because then I know exactly how everything goes together when its time to fix something or rebuild diffs etc. Not to mention building a kit is a lot of fun :D AE also has awsome instructions, so anyone of their kits should be fine even for a beginner. The truck itself rips (its probably one of the most well known 1/10 scale ST's). Its my personal favorite, but unfortuately my LHS just paved over their offroad track in favor of a nitro on-road course  Now I mostly just bash around with my GT for the fun of it. (still race the carpet knife indoors though :D )

my first build was a super blackfoot that my neighbor had to finish for me.

after that,i tryed to assemble a traxxas pede' but the traxxas instructions were a lil confusing but i did it.

then i assembled my blitzer beetle,it was cake.

the cheesiest build was my tamiya mad bull-so cheesy i used it once n gutted it for parts, lol, now it sits in the closet!

i have a super hornet that i am gonna restore after i get a reissue grasshopper n hornet!

my first build was my RC10GT about a year ago. I didn't build it from a FT kit, but from new parts i got on ebay a few used parts i got in lots. Only snag i ran into was running out of money when i need to buy the motor, lol.

My first RC was a Traxxas Nitro Sport, which i torn down and rebuilt several times and then converted to a nitro rustler, which required tearing down again. Luckily i was able to sell this pile to get the motor and remaining items for my GT...

I'm hoping to some day soon buy myself a Savage SS, would be pretty sweet to built an MT.

My LHS still has a brand new Stadium Blitzer and a Traxxas Sledgehammer on there shelf, as well a lot of old parts for cars, including a stealth for the RC10 and a few other pre-stealth 3-gear upgrade trannies for the rc10 and even a direct drive conversion...
