I got a traxxas E-Maxx, and i love it. My dad has a Duratrax Axis, we were out driving them together, and even on the break-in, he was stompin me. I just got really jealous, and started maing crap up. Is it normal to get jealous of someone just cause of speed?

Ummmm, those two aren't even in the same class!! You're talking big buggy vs monster truck! Gas vs electric! You can't really compare them. Now if they were BOTH Emaxx's, then yep, I'd be jealous too!! I am jealous of the fast guys at our track. Everybody runs the same motor/battery/brush/gearing, but some people are just soooooo much faster!!! :/

yes speed causes jealouse, my friend has an axix and i will admit i get a little jealous when he out runs me and gets longer run times.
how ever i get the last laph when he cant run his car because hes out of fuel and has to make a hobby shop run. battery power always gets tha last laph. ;)

lol Randy. Yeah, or the engine wont start lol, ive seen that happen. Speed can cause jealousy, i mean ive heard a rtr electric 4-tec goes faster than the rtr tc3, and if i got a nice, new, 240$ rtr tc3 and was smoked by a rtr, 170$ traxxas 4-tec i would be pretty pissed off lol.

It is simply human nature. competition breeds jealousy, hatred, spite, and general bad feelings. I'd like to say to you that the picture you painted of your dad out there with you running your cars together is so idealistic, i cant even imagine it. You are a very lucky guy to have a dad so cool, and caring, that you guys are out there spending time together doing something you both love. Try to keep that in mind. Also keep in mind he bought that speed, he didnt invent it, or create it, you can buy speed just as easily as the next guy. ;)

LOL at jetfan....goooood one!!!!
I agree with railman. If your Dad is out there racing with you, you are darned lucky. If only there were more father/son teams like you guys and "railman's team". What a great activity. Jealousy.... don't worry it won't be long before you are whipping his butt. I've tried racing in the novice class at several tracks and get my tush smacked every time by folks young enough to be my grandkids. I get jealous of their reflexes and eye/hand coordination but although I can buy all the speed and power that is available I can't buy what they have youth. Enjoy the time you have with your Dad. As you get older you will probably go off to college, get a job or just generally drift apart a bit. That's human nature for the young to stand on their own. You'll be able to look back on this time and smile at how the 'old guy' used to beat me all the time until......
you get what I mean. Just $.032CDN from someone who has been there to see 3 kids grow up and move on.

It is cool to have a dad like the same thing i like. I'll be 13 in a month, so we still got a few years. I have thought of accidentally running his over, but that would just be mean. His does have the speed avantage, but were moving to an area that has a track, so we'll soon see whos better. Im also building a Fan Car, so wheel see how that 1 turns out.

HotMod, Well said!
I have 3 boys that are involved in RC with me. There's nothing that says the dad can't have something that's a little faster than what a son has. We dads need all the help we can get to make up for the lost reflexes & eye sight! The fact is your dad won't be able to beat you for long. A little jelousy is healthy, & normal. That's the fuel for competition. Just don't let jellousy spoil a good time. Eventually, with lifes everyday experiences, it all gets easier. Just try to keep an open mind. Joe
Wow! 900 posts!, Good post for it.
