How can I tell how fast a motor can go. I meen not in the car or anything. I know about the RPM's but how do I convert to MPH.

I think that there are too many variable for that equation, and it can never be factored in, find a cop, with a radar gun.

First off, RPM would translate easier to horsepower, than MPH. But if you're REALLY interested in finding out. Do this. Measure the circumference of the armature. Convert it to miles. That should give you the Miles Per Minute... then just convert Minutes to Hours. Example: A mod motor making 50,000 RPM would do... (if my calculations are right) about 0.004877764MPH. But that's just the motor. See You can't really measure a motor in MPH. It's only through a gearbox that the RPM translates to any measurable MPH.

For one thing electric motors don't make enough high RPM power to let them get to full RPM they would when they are tested. If you haven't noticed the tires buldge a lot more when they are off the ground than when running. So the motor would never get going as fast as what was calculated so the real MHP would be slower.
