Ok, i've been in RC since i was about 8

- and the first thing everyone asks it "how fast will she go"

and yesterday i was out runing un an down our road and i decided to do a few timed 50m runs - just to get a aproxxamate figure, but now, like everything else, i want to take it further!!!

- i did a bit of googleing, and i dint really find what i was looking for, i found a pair of gates for about $50 (not bad) but there the tyre we used at school in science (see pic)

- but my car wont fit through that

- so, i need a rethink, and i remember someone here did this (i think) - i dont mind making it my self (or modding a exsting thing) but

it will need to beable to be set with the sensors across my road, so it will need a range of about 5m (not 5cm, lol)

so if any one knows anythink...

thanks daniel

i don't really understand what your looking for... a sensor to find what your speed is or what? venom makes a good one for a good price.

oh, and is there supposed to be a pic? cuz I can't see one

i think your talking about a timing trap and radar someone did that on the cen car to see if it went 70

well, i was thinking of the things where you have two light beams that the car brake as it passes, there linked to a PC/handheld unit, and it give you a speed (speed=dist/time) - see the pic (which i will remember this time!!)

but a onboard rev conter would be good as well!!

Venom speed meter does the onboard revs thing. It uses a magnet and a sensor much like a bicycle speedometer.
They're pretty cool, and only like 50 bucks. The problem is you're stuck with just one car. The timing gates would be nice because they'd allow you to use it with any car.
Another option is something like a lap counter type loop where you could put a transponder on your car. Then you'd have to figure out computer software though. It's an idea though. ;)

save yourself the trouble of the beam thing and get the venum speed meter.. it tells you everything you need to know :)

there's really no reason to go spend hundreds on a lap counting system.
