Hey guys i just realized that if i do get the TLO-1 over even 30mph it will be VERY unstable. so i have decided to get a car that was ment for high speeds and racing which i hope to do in the future. its the BOLINK sport 2000 its an on road car and it looks stable enough to handle the speeds im demanding but i have a question. how fast will it go with a 81 tooth spur gear , 24 tooth pinion gear , and a monsters of touring 13T double?? will the motor be overgeared or undergeared? thanks BTW here is a pic http://www.bolink.com/images/bl1320.gif

Well since it is a pan car and I looked in my manual for the RC10L3 and they recomend a 20T pinion and a 84T spur with a 13Turn motor. Associated lists a 36 degree stock motor with your current pinion/spur gear selection.
By the way with a 11 turn motor they suggest 18T pinion and 84T spur and with a 24 degree ROAR stock motor they say to use a 25T pinion and a 81T spur. I give these other motor gearing examples in hope it can help you modify it for your application.
By the way I am running a stock 27 turn motor, 18T pinion and a 72T spur and the car is extreme in the torque department and weak in the speed department. I wouldn't go under an 81T spur with a 18T pinion and still expect to control the rear wheels off the line. I can do some severe doughnuts though. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

If you are going to be running it in the street, you do NOT want a pan car, get a good touring car

Why cant i run it in the street?? my street is as smooth as a babys bottom?? plus how fast ya think it will go in MPH and will it be overgearings it? and plus i hope to be racing soon.

Because most streets are not that smooth and those cars perform better with a perfectly flat surface. Since it seems you just want all out speed, why not make a dragster?

well 1. i dont have a drag strip at my local track 2. u can't get good turning with em and 3. if i were to drive em around doing turns n stuff the front "O" ring tires would get shredded. plus i like the way on road racers handle.

I have two pan cars and they run fine on the street. Just be careful, any pebble you hit larger than an unused pencil eraser will toss pan cars and scratch the chassis. A flat smooth surface like what HauntedMyst suggests is more suited for these cars.

Yes I think you are just barely over-geared. I was trying to suggest going to a 20 tooth pinion and a 84 tooth Spur. Sorry I guess I forgot to use the K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid) principle again. I got a little info happy. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/wink.gif

well after talking to a racer at my local track imma stick with a 17T double will that be overgeared? sorry forgot to ask him. and im getting motor spray/cleaner with my motor after i break in my motor do i spray the cleaner in while the motor is running or when it is off? also can i use my standard 6 cell to break in my motor? thanks alot for your help. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/tongue.gif

First I realized nobody answered the subjuect question. I would guess REAL fast! Just check out the May 2001 issue! Guiness Book of world Records!! http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Your selected gearing should be fine with the 17T Double.
I have not worried about breaking in a motor before. In fact I read that just driving carefully for a battery pack or two is all the break in needed. As far as motor spray check the RCCA website. I think they have an article there.
In my last post I noticed that I wrote that I was using a 72T spur but it is actually a 78T spur. Also I just went to a 84T spur and a 20T pinion but the weather has been raining and I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. I am trying to make it more controlable off the line. Currently it spins the wheels like crazy.

When considering gearing tire diameter is an essential part of the equation. Most racers talk about gearing in terms of "rollout" which is the forward distance the car travels for each revolution of the motor. Since foam tires get smaller as they wear the overall gearing is changing. To calculate rollout measure the circumfience of the tire (or measure the diameter & multiply by 3.14) & divide by the gear ratio. This is easiest done in millimeters.
Example: Your tire is 62mm diameter (or about 194.6mm circ.) & you have an 84 spur with a 20 pinion. 84/20 = 4.2 ratio. 194.6/4.2 = 46.33. So 46.33 is the rollout.
A 46mm rollout with a stock motor is good for a small oval. You can probably go as high as 65mm in a large area, much more than that you will start to have "aero" problems. Since modified motors spin at much higher rpms, 30-40mm with a 12-14 turn motor in good condition will yeild ballistic speeds for the first 2 minutes or so. Remember to keep track of tire diameter as it directly relates to rollout.
