Is this rattle can paint working for anyone? I tried the orange/purple/teal and I didn't get much effect. I had a clean body, used 4-5 coats, backed with their black backer and I got the marbled finish with just one color showing, barely. I didn't use their Surface Pre Prep though.
Any suggestions? I don't think I'll try this paint again.
I've done over 20 bodies so my luck has been pretty good...

I've used it successfully through a number of cans. I've always backed it with Parma FasBlack. It find it's like chrome, you have to keep spraying it and testing it by holding something dark behind it until I see the change.

Well I've used airbrush colorchange paints and the result has allways turned ok, but I have to accept that they are the most difficult to apply due you can barely see the result untill you add the black backer.

OK, thanks. I'll try the paint again sometime using their surface pre prep.
The stuff really sprays on clear, so its hard to tell what kind of coverage your getting... :o

Yes, I did the same thing, not using the pre-prep. I got the same, looked like it took in spots and not in others. I have since painted a few bodies using the pre-prep and it fixed the problem. As for coverage, I would use a 1 oz bottle or a 3.5 oz can for one 10th scale body. More for 8th scale. The more paint the better the body will look when done. Do a very light coat and let dry for 10/15 min, repeat untill the paint is gone and the body will look awesome.

That is WAY too much paint. I have achieved very dramatic color changing effects with a lot less paint than that. One of the small bottles usually lasts 4-5 bodies for me.
Make sure you paint each coat on in a different direction. That seems to help the color changing effect.
We havent been able to get the Cans outside of the US yet, so im not sure how far a can will go in terms of bodyshells, but for the 1oz Airbrush bottles, you should get 3 190/200mm bodyshells from a bottle without the worries of the effect being too weak.
I'd say more often than not i'll use 1/3rd of a bottle on a shell, any more than that im not sure if your really gaining any advantage from it.
As long as you dont go too thin with the application and you apply it in nice smooth in light coats etc, you should get great results every time.

I don't think it's too much paint. As long as you can still see through the body you are still gaining more effect. You can use less, but it will not show up as well. I used a 1 oz bottle for this body and the customer was more then happy with it.

The more you use, the thicker the paint becomes. Therefore more chance for flaking, which is not a chance I like to take.
