I am looking for more power and will probably up my nitro from20% to 30% and i hear that tuneing the engine may be harder .Why is that if there is more nitro in the fuel ?.I know the engine will run warmer but it runs pretty cool right now ,and there isnt much more I can do to this boat besides putting an 18 or 21 engine in it ,and I dont want to do that yet .I have a auqua jet with a 16 with some port work and a tuned pipe.

upping the nitro will make a difference. just watch your needle settings. if you get too lean you'll start smoking glow plugs. on my boats i can definitely tell the difference between 20% and 30% nitro. what kind of porting are you talking about??? did you smooth 'em out or did you open them up? i'm just kinda curious.

I smoothed and angled the outside a little .i did a few nitro truck motors for my truck and there was a good improvement so i did this one.My traxxas pro 15 I opened up the case ports and put boca race bearings in it and reworked the conrod ,but in my boat I didnt want to go too crazy so iI kept it on the mild side.I will take it easy the first few tanks of 30% .Do you think that my direct drive set up can handle a 21 if I decide to put it in?.I can probably find one cheap on Ebay.I will probably switch to a cold plug too due to the heat increase .

i won't tell you that its a good idea to put a .21 into that hull. but i won't stop you either!!! that's a lot of engine for that little hull. stick with the .15's and .16's. they can produce more than enough power.

I've run 50% in my Grey Thunder because that's what I use on my race boats and didn't have any lower percentage handy. Higher Nitro does make the needle settings a little more finicky, especially on hot and humid days but no real problems on this boat. Usually over 40% is a waste though for yours. Use the good fuel, that alone can make a difference.

Help me ! .I am addicted .Everytime I buy something that rc ,I have to hop it up to the maxx.My stadium truck is hopped up like crazy and now the boat bug has bit me.This boat runs great but ,on calm days I can go wot and turn with out slowing down .I have a 40mm cf prop that the cen guy said is a good prop (alot better than the stock one) so ,thats why I was thinking 21 for an upgrade, but I know that a strong motor can cuase problems ,like snapped drive shafts on my truck .I want this thing to almost fly and run wild  .

Dog, it sounds like it's time for you to move up into a serious boat! You got bitten bad! :D CEN's are OK for Newbs but I can't really see putting too much money into mine. I've got my racing boats and play boats for other times.

Well you are probaly right but I have no one around here to race and I am sure that a decent race boat will be some serious $ .I have only spent 300.00 on this hobby so far which is probably cheap I guess.

I just finished my second quart of monster power 20% tonight ,and I will be ordering some 30% from tower hobbies on wed.I also have a bottle of nirto blast fuel additive that I may add to it to help it run cooler. The pond was like glass tonight and my boat needs more speed.

Hey WD, if you want a fast boat on a budget, why don't you just build it yourself? You already have the radio gear and engine , so just build a hull to fit your motor and go from there.

H.D ,I am new to boats and I am not sure about building a hull.I am into tinkering with enignes and leaving the rest alone.Ahab ,my boat has no trim tabs right now .The guy at offshore said the boat didnt need them.Should I get trimm tabs?.The boat planes out great,I have a cf 40mm prop on it right now.

As long as the boat is handling well without them, save your money. If Steve says that you don't need them, he's right.

If it dosent need hem then dont use them they are usefull when you need to calm the hull down on ruogh water.
