Hi There! I am new to the RC World kind of though i am NOT new to Art! I have been an airbrusher and Artist my whole life! I have been airbrushing WWII Model PLanes for the past 10 years!
Well heres the deal. I wanted to paint a sick color scheme or design on my new Mazda 6 Protoform Body for my MTX3 that i am gonna be racing. Now I remember having to paint the car bodies from thew inside? The body also has a protective coating on the top of it that can be peeled off? Anyway i would like to paint the car like the Serpent 710 car. If you go to www.serpent.com the first thing you will see is the car body i want!
Now the problem is how do I make the lines on the inside of the car? And how do i make them p[erfectlt straight? I mean and if i wanted to add a flame job to the nose of the car how would i do that? Well I would appreciate if any of you could direct me to something that shows you set by step how to paint and make templates out for the car bodies and painting them from the inside out? Also i was wondering what the best paint is to use? What brand and ienamel or acrylic? I like enamek prefferably? But let me know. Thanks and PLEASE email me if possible!

Ah, someone with a similar background as me. Although I started airbrushing way back in the '70s...

Well, based on the link to the picture, I'd say you're gonna need some liquid mask and pinstripping tape. Shapes like flames I use a liquid mask. I draw the design on the outside of the body with a Sharpie. I kee Denatured Alcohol around to erase what I don't like.

Then I grab by Exacto with a brand new blade on it, and cut the flame design from the inside. I peel away the mask and start painting.

Paintwise, I used to use lacquer based paints but they are such a pain to clean up and too toxic. So I use Faskcolor. On occasion, if i want a real metal-like finish I'll use Alclad or Spaztix.

IMO, the hard part is the "planning". Meaning would I laydown the mask do, those portions then the pinstripes or stripes then masks. I'd have to think which way makes the most sense....

Remeber though with lexan bodies you bascially reverse the way you lay down the colors.
