I have lots of old tires for my t3 that are bald and I race on a hard pack track with really low traction so I was thinking of getting some really small sheet metal screws and put them through the tires. Has any one tried this? it seams like it might work

Better just buy new tires or race the bald ones. You said it was a hard packed low traction surface so it might work...

it seems to work good for me i tried it and it wasnt that bad.but it didnt hook up as good to me as step pins do on my track.

I used thumb tacks once.
I placed them 2 wide and probably about 20 total. I then used strapping tape to "lock them in" (Put sticky side out, but on the inside of the tire). I then stuffed more foam than normal in there to keep them pushed out.

This set up worked killer for sheet ice !

Yeah, I have done that before, it works great. Just make sure ytour track owner will let you before you go and tenderize his track!

And better make sure they can't fly out. I can imagine the hole the pins make in the tyre widening and tearing farther open, and the pins eventually flying out. You don't want to get hit by one...
