Pete- I enjoyed wour article on how to build perfect shocks. I was wondering if you have any tips for Duratrax shocks(the ones that are pre built, but without oil). Thanks in advance.

Car Head, the DuraTrax shocks are oil shocks, but they don't come filled. That saisd, your friction-shock tip is spot-on!
Here's what I suggest for DuraTrax shocks:
1. Before you fill the shocks, apply some Associated Green Slime to the o-ring seals. If you don't have the Slime, at least lube the seals with shock fluid before filling the shock.
2. If the shocks leak at the cap, try using Kyosho bladders instead of the stock parts. You can also try wrapping teflon tale around the threads before installing the cap.
3. The included springs aren't very stiff; for heavy-duty jumping and thrashing, consider some stiffer springs (Kyosho springs fit, Losi's are a little big; I think Associated's work, but I can't recall trying them--feedback, anyone?)
