While doing research on radios that I've been thinking about buying I have noticed that people post a lot of questions about radios. Do you guys think we should have a radio forum? We could discuss the merits of PCM, tips on setup, newly released models, pricing information and many other things. I for one, would like to see a forum dedicated to radios.

You could do that with just about anything. Servo tape, fuel tubing, motors batteries. Why spread it out anymore?

you're right tc3! It's already trouble to decide which board i should post RC10GT questions. Nitro or Car forum? whatever, i think just nitro, general, electric and monster were fine they way they were.

The two of you are trivializing the importance of a good radio system. Think about it, what are the main components in a radio controlled model? The model, the radio, and what makes it go(engine/motor.)
People don't invest up to $300 in their servo tape or fuel tubing. I've read posts by both of you and I know neither of you would spend that much on such a small item--but the radio is a different story, right?
GTman, I know what you mean because I had the same problem when searching the BB for information on radios. Which forum was I supposed to look under? General, electric, nitro, etc... In your case I think your posts should go under Nitro if it is related to anyone who drives nitro cars, and under Vehicle if it is a question/comment specifically about the RC10GT.
It's a bit discouraging to see people making posts about "battery strap" forums because we all know better, but I really think it would benefit the community to have a forum dedicated to radio systems. People could go to this forum for questions about AM, FM, PCM, all the different servo types, glitching and so on.
If anyone is so against this idea then please post a reason besides saying that it's too confusing or that it would clutter the board. I really think this would help us all.

I just don't think we need another forum. There are too many already and it takes too long to check tham all. But if we did that then people would want electric motor forums, and speed control forums and other things that are just as impotant.

I think the Forums should be more individual. Right now they are almost all inclusive and posts get lost quickly sometime before a person with knowlwdge has time to reply.
There is nothing wrong with lots of Forums. What's the beef?
Someone posted about this in another thread thet there are already 16 Forums here. Yeah, so what? Most of them are not read and apply to minor interest. Such as for sale; and magazine; etc. There are really only 6 Forums that are used a lot. And some of them seem redundant, if there is going to be all inclusive posting.
I think it would be great to have a Radio Forum. An Electric Motor Forum. A Nitro Engine Forum. A Touring Car Forum. A Buggy Forum. A Monster Truck Forum. A Stadium Truck Forum. A Suspension Forum. A Body/Paint Forum. A Hints & Kinks Forum. And Regional Forums. The more the merrier. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/smile.gif

You know it wouldn't take so long to scan through the indivdual forums if people would quit posting the same post over and over. For example there are at least 3 or 4 post for the RC10GT on the vehicle forum. Then you go to the Nitro forum and there are 5 more. These numbers are just examples but they are not far from the truth. If, as old phart said, the forums were more indivual then you would not have to wade through as much clutter. If you were looking for a answer to why your esc keeps shuting down then go to the ESC forum instead of surfing through pages of threads in the electric forum and the general forum. You are still going to have to wade through some missplaced threads but I doubt that there will be as many. Besides I noticed SteveP has been moving a lot of these misplaced threads trying to help the person that posted the thread get the correct audience.
Another example: I recently made a post about pre-built saddle packs. I couldn't decide if I should post it in the electric forum or the General Forum because I wasn't asking tech questions about the saddle packs but rather if there was a manufacture that made them. Electric or General? Or both? I choose the Electric forum since they are, well, our cars source of electricity. http://www.rccaraction.com/ubb/wink.gif I could have just as easily put it in the General Forum because the main question was about available manufactures of the pre-built saddle packs and not about the packs themselves.
Sorry for the long post but I needed to vent.

I'm sorry to say this aphex4000 but in truth this thread probably should have been in the "RCZONE/Website Suggestions" Forum.
I do REALLY share your and old pharts opinion about the forums needing to be more indivdualized or item specific. As long as they are still kept within reason. Within reason could be limited to components used in our cars and the forums already in use.

The problem with several dozen different forums is that it becomes very cluttered, and there will be several forums with only a handful of active threads. That's no fun to read, or even visit. There hasn't been an overflow of radio questions yet, so the need isn't there is it? And it's not trivializing radio importance either, it's just trying to keep the site simple. What's wrong with posting a radio question in the General Discussion portion?

StephenB,
Posting a radio question in the General Forum is not incorrect. But the subject for this is about adding a Radio Forum to RCZONE and there is a seperate forum for this type of subject. Although I agree with the author of this thread I still felt in order for me to keep from being a hyprocrit I wanted to let him know that this was posted in the wrong forum. He has probably already gotten a greater responce here than he would have if he had put it in the suggestion forum. StephenB you have made good points that I can't deny. I do use this site for research about 50% of the time and having a more specific forum to go to would make research a lot easier. Not haveing to surf through the multiple threads about the same vehicle or motor would also make it easier. If people would use the search function more they might find the answers they are looking for which would help eliminate some of the repeat questions. aphex4000 every time I use the search feature I wish they would make it possible to search the entire forum as well. It would make searching for information so much better and a lot more inclusive.
aphex4000,
How is the weather in Houston? That is my home town. Used to watch races in Pear land and accross from Beverly Hills Intermediate school. Just thought I would extend a Howdy.

ammoace, you're absolutely right about this post being in the wrong forum. Sorry about that guys. We are seeing a lot of good arguments both ways.
For example, ESCs are a critical part of an electric car's performance and costs a fortune, where would that go? Under electric forum I suppose, but then it's not really fair that Nitros have an engine forum while electrics don't have a motor/batt/ESC forum.
Maybe we could look at all of this from a different angle. What if the BB would allow users to search the entire BB for something instead of by individual forums? I think that help greatly and would be the logical alternative to creating more forums.
