Hello,
My friend told me about this board, wow there's a lot of useful info/tips here.
Basically I'm pretty new in this RC, and wow how much I enjoy this hobby, I hope I'm not too old for this stuff, I'm 34 and married.
My wife think I was reborn and act like a boy! lol.. haaaa..haaa..haa..
Anyway this hobby kept me at home and she likes it, rather than my "other" hobby which keeps me away from home and her in my Studio Recording.
It's been about 5 months now, and I already spend around $ 3000 in this thing, which is ok for me compare with the "Audio" stuff, with this amount of money I can only buy about 2 Microphones! (it's a Neumann, it costs a lot)
Anyway, I now have OFNA Ultra GTLX (1/8 Nitro), Stampede (i loveeee this one), TC3 and the latest and the coolest Losi XXXS!
I don't race yet. maybe sometime in the future, I'm waiting for my local hobby shop to open their new and suppose to be great indoor and outdoor track, if anyone of you live nearby me, it's a Pegasus, here in Montclair, CA.

Sorry for this long post.
Have a great day and have fun with your car/s.

Leonard

Welcome to the hobby. You're coming into RC Full force it seems. Excellent! There's a lot to learn about all of it, that's for sure. Are you too old? No way. You're never too old. Glad to see another joining the RC ranks.

If you plan on racing, just you wait... that's when the real fun begins. If I could do it for a living, I'd be racing RC cars 6 days a week! :)

Long winded? Don't worry about it. I actually like reading the whole story, rather than a rushed story... So post away! And again, welcome!

I agree, what a Fun, enjoyable hobby, as long as you stay positive! Seems like you have done just about everything there is to do, on road, off road, electric, nitro, and it only gets better!

I agree, there is one thing you are missing, Racing. I have been in RC for about 7 years(Dang near 8!) And I am only 16, as it is. I started racing, a year ago, and it is all I like to do now. Beating the local kids on my block got boring, so I needed a new challenge, and the boys out at IR/CR EASILY fulfill that!

Long winded? Hardly. I am all for long posts!

It is fun... Even though it seems that every week, we stop running at some point because everyone's cars are broken. We spend the week (or weeks  ) fixing them and we are back out there...

I broke my first car the first time and was all freaked out... My buddy goes, "That's why it's a hobby..." I see his point now; it's half the fun (6 breaks later)...

Although he still doesn't like it when after he hits a tree at like 30 mph, I remind him it's only a hobby. :D

34....to old... Never...Never...Never. I'm over 50... (actually 3 months short of 58). I started in our wonderful hobby about 1 1/2 years ago. The last time I had anything to do with racing cars was when slot cars were in full swing. Have a great time. Wait until you get into painting and concours detailing. Best of luck.... 34... *snicker* a mere pup!!!!LOL
