I don't see why it wouldn't handle a .21, as long as you keep the nitro down to around 10%. As the kit's designed for electrics, it's probably built very lite. You may want to beef up some areas to handle the increased power of the .21. Come to think of it, Dumas puts out a 30 inch Pay N' Pak that is "designed" for a .20, but with 1/8th inch thick MAHOGANY framing, it's too heavy for any REAL speed :(

Ive found another hull that wil work for shure It maybe not as fast. But I bet alot more stable In rough water.

That Prather brings back so many memories.
I had one with a 3.5 K&B otbd. Gosh, almost brings a tear to my eye when thinking about the fun times. Lol. I beat it to death. Seemed like every race, it was swapping paint with someone or slamming a bouy. Ran it over large boat wakes and it would fly like an offshore racer after putting about 8oz of balast in the nose. A buddy had one with an inboard it was even better!
I'd spend $50 on it (thats me, but its worth more) and might even bid just have one on the shelf if the guy will ship Priority Mail.

I have one of those Obertos I built from the original Dave Frank plans. It's a great boat and I have mine running very fast. Corners great and goes well over 40mph on 12 cells, hoping to pass 50 this summer with some more tweaking. The hull design can easily handle the speed and power of a 21, but I don't think the wood could. I would write the guy selling it and ask what type of wood is included in the kit he is selling. If that kit is using the same materials as were originally in the plans there is no way it could stand up to a nitro engine. It is all balsa and therefore superlight and superweak. I've damaged mine so many times I have stopped bothering to sand the repairs or repaint it, just too much trouble. Something breaks almost everytime I take the lid off. You could always use the balsa parts as templates to cut out plywood parts and then you would have the parts for both an electric and a nitro version.

That's the reason I "suggested" beefing up the hull. By building it using 1/16th ply for the skin and framing, with 1/4 inch at the transoms, it should not be a problem for a .21. These are the same materials I use to build 40+ inch scale hydros. I know people with ply boats over 10 years old who haven't done anything except touchups in the offseason :)

Wel If its balsa Im not going to bother cause It would be he same ifI just build one. I wanted to know cause I dont exacly want to make the parts for my next boat during the sumer I just want to instal all the guts from my mono into A biger hull. So waves wouldnt bother me.

Why don't you just order the plans from RCBM and build it from scratch? You would have the hull you want and have it able to handle the power of a .21.

i've got one of those prather's. mine's an outboard and i love it! they're actually capable of some pretty decent speed. it's an older design, so i don't know how it would be as a race boat by today's standards. but it's still a lot of fun.

How big of waves are you talking? I don't know of any hydro that will handle very large waves. You can enlarge the hull to, let's say 36". It would give you a larger hull, provided you do everyting you can to keep the weight down. Otherwise, you will need to move up to a .45.

Like on very windy days and if there is lots of fullsize boats on the water I get those rolers that yo need a dv for.

I've seen those before on ebay. Very bizarre design. It looks like a shallow vee at the transom and a deepvee at the bow. I'd be very interested to hear how it runs.
