Hey guys, I've read somewhere that doing a porting/polishing job on a nitro motor gets more speed/smoother running...this doesn't sound like something I want to do myself (maybe), is there a place you can send your engine to have this done?
Is it easy to do?
Should I even bother?
It's for the Miss Bud, of course....Also, I've got this BBY oval master 26 hull sitting around, made for electric, but I'm thinking about putting a nitro motor in it...any suggestions? I was thinking about getting a faster motor for the Miss Bud and using the dynamite .15 for the oval master...Does anyone know of a bigger or faster engine that will fit easily into the miss bud 1/12?

thanks

I think I remember some time back there was a guy who put a different .15 in the miss bud. I think it was a hpi air cooled motor??? I could be wrong but he posted a link to a movie file and it looked like it was hauling sass...

i did a mild port job on mine and got great results. you'll need to remember to shorten your pipe, as the point here is to get more RPM's. if you want to read more about it check these links, they are very helpful:

a little experimentation can go a long way!! but watch out, you'll need a metal prop if you try to get more speed. the plastic one on the bud won't handle the increased power for more than a few minutes.

When you say "mild port job", what did you modify?

all i did was match the ports to the crank case and smooth them out. i didn't change the height of the ports, because i don't yet have a way to measure the timing. i only changed their width. if you were to disassemble your engine, you'd see marks on the outside of the sleeve from the crankcase. i just used those as a guideline.

I did a little mild porting on my Auqua jet yesterday.I smoothed out the outside of the case and angled ,and polished the 3 intake ports .I opened up the hsn a little also .This thing rips up the water .I would say it was worth the time I spent on it.I talked to a few guys that run sailboats on mon,tue and wed,ZZZZZZZZZ.They are ok ,but they are not nitro. One guy there got out his enforcer ,with a homelight engine .Wow that is cool ,and runs for 30MIN :D .He told me that if I want to see somthing wild I should get out to the sanctioned races held out at the airport at elmira N.Y. .He said that they are thinking of running a novice nitro class ,sort of a rtr class. He said to compete at those races ,its not always the guy with the fastest boat ,but the guy that can finish and not flipp over .He said that the hot motor is the zenoah 260 .I like these big boats but,how do i hide it from the BOSS!!(wife) .He said that I could put a 21 engine in my Auquajet if i put a flex shaft possibly and my top end may reach 40-45 mph.

30mins??? That was for the enforcer? Mine can go for a couple of hrs on 24ozs using the 260zen. :D
