That is until Traxxas updates the Maxx.

They all ready did, a different body, woo hoo, not! And they charged us 20 bux more. What else are they going to upgrade, or change?

I'm not a huge fan of the T-Maxx (I do own one though) but I shudder at the thought of "maxx fever" coming to an end! At least where I live, the T-Maxx brought this hobby back to life! There are more hobby shops than ever, and those shops have tons of RC stuff. A guy even opened an RC specific shop near here,... something I haven't seen since the mid 80's. I used to race heavily in the 80's and RC was booming. For years it was very depressing to walk into one of the old stores I used to frequent and see a bunch of snap-tite models and balsa wood planes overrunning the place,... with one or two lonely RC cars (that are 2 or 3 years old) sitting colecting dust. For years in my area - the hobby died.
If Maxx fever is over, I sure hope Traxxas (or anyone else) has something up their sleeve that will keep up the momentum that the T-Maxx started!

Personally I think 2002 will be the year of the TC.

i think it will be the year of the nitro tc.
the electric tc, already had its major boom with the tc3, and the yok, with the pro 3 jumping on at the end, however with the recent reduction in price as far as the mtx-2 and the impulse (both you can get under $300 without engine) and also the nitro tc3 coming out, and the kyosho v one r, and then again hpi's tc jumping on torwards the back, i think that nitro touring cars will be very popular next spring through fall.
that is ofcourse if the tmaxx 2 (which IS not a rumor) comes out. the only question is when, and the details.

nah, I think electric will always be strong, simply because not everyone wants the headache of maintaining a nitro motor.

Don't forget two more strong electrics: the XXX-S and the KX-One. There is a huge TC selection with them and bodies are interchangable.

The maxx has been very helpful in making this hobby grow. Now other companies are designing trucks with moer to offer. This is a good thing for everybody. Duratrax now has the Thunder Quake. 4wd 2sp f/R lots of susp travel pivot ball truck like susp. Others are sure to make changes. This is good. The quality, features, and choices keep getting better. When traxxas comes out with a new maxx along with others this is what will keep the MT's rolling right over the other classes due to the fun excitement and creativity. You can do many things with a MT that you cant with a TC. You guys are leaving out A TC is very limited as to the type of surface you run on (smooth flat dry). Mts can be made to go fast(30-50mph), go slow and climb, jump all over the place, run in the backyard, run when its wet, run in SNOW, and yes on-road parking lots as well. See due to the variaty of places a MT can go they will stay popular for quite some time. :)

Clod fever has been over for quite some time as well, but it's still going strong :D I suspect the same will be true for the T-Maxx.

T/E-Maxxes still going strong around here...I don't want one though :) I test drove an Emaxx and all I kept doing was flipping the thing on turns! I'll stick to Stadium and Buggies for now..

i agree too with what quake and shake said. in america i dont think monster trucks will EVER be outsold. we have great land to bash em, and since most people in rc's dont race they just bash, the tmaxx wont die out until something as revolutionary as it was to lets said the clod or 1/8 scale buggy mts (quake and MP) comes out.
however as far as racing classes, the nitro tc will probably pick up the most.
however, one thing i am looking out for is the 4wd buggy, AE has a great platform with the tc3, and the xxx s could also produce a great 4wd buggy, however only time will tell, but its doubtful.
oh yes, and lets not forget 8th scale buggies, they are getting cheaper and cheaper, and more companies are making them, both into racers, bashers, and also top of the line buggies.
and finally the mini rc, such as the mini z and hpi micro, which have already been rather popular (as has the CH)

i dont mind the maxxes all that much, but traxxas needs to offer a kit version, then they get more business...or atleast an ARR one
Mason Copeland

I think the reason that they dont sell it as a kit is because you will have to buy a 3 channel radio that can shift it and there are only a few of those and they cost around 200 bux. Sure you could buy the TQ but whats the point of kit then?

The tmaxx has practically every part made into an aftermarket part... so what else is there to be done to the kit? i mean who here doesnt have a tmaxx? well i know i dont... that's because everyone has one... and they all hopped it up with aluminum and so forth... but heck, i prolly get one too... but not really into trucks... tc kinda guy i am... and ya tc electric will always be strong... but then again can fade just like others... but then that's where manufactures will continue to keep the interest & improve on such kits or chassis or whatever is to come into the rc industry

o how could you all miss the up and coming 1/8 buggies. with all the price drops this is almost sure to get all the 1/10 pro's looking for more power. i think that the maxx's helped with this people already got a tase of the size now they want more power so they will turn to ofna this will be there year them and GS with there storm

storn person- i agree with you... with the new Nitro TC3 comin' out everyone will have one and it will also encourage aftermarket companies to make stuff for the Electric TC3. that would be nice to.... hopefully it will be the year of on-road TC's and pan cars but off road is still the majority of R/C today.

Where I race at here in Kansas City, they are starting a E-Maxx class, they ran it for the first time last Saturday and had a good turnout...I will be buying mine very soon, the last I herd my LHS had sold somewhere between 15-20 kits and many more on order...So I really wonder when T-E Maxx fever will ever end

Maxx fever over? Don't know about that! Today I went to my local Hobby People store to take advantage of their Labor Day sale and saw 4 T-Maxxes sold and 1 E-Maxx inside of half an hour. One guy even bought a T-Maxx and ALL the red Dynamite aluminum stuff they had for the truck. He also bought a set of T-Maxx big bores and the 360 Stinger pipe. The guy spent over 1100 bucks!!! The manager of the store told me that after he sells the Duratrax cars he has there, 2 Axis buggies, a Maximum MT Pro and a Nitro Quake, their store is no longer going to sell Duratrax stuff, period. They are starting to sell all the XTM stuff, which I think is on par with the Duratrax stuff. If all Hobby People stores stop selling Duratrax stuff, I guess Horizon and Tower will be the only ones who will sell them since my local Hobby Town no longer sells Duratrax either. Both stores cited QC problems with the Duratrax stuff. Hobby People no longer sell any LOSI stuff either.

Mason, no, my LHS is the new Hobby People in Escondido. The one on Convoy carries fuel though I know that since I used to go there to avoid going to Hobby Town in San Marcos. Yeah, the Convoy store is cool, it seems to have more stuff than the one in Escondido. The best one though was in Mission Viejo, it's going to move to another location after having lost their lease. You might want to try Ultimate Hobbies up in Orange. It is right off the 55 Freeway going North. Just take the Nahl Ranch Road or Lincoln Avenue off ramp. That store is awesome. They actually had the E-Maxx for sale at 319.00 with the new Novak ESC!!! I go there whenever I can. The Traxxas fuel is 3 bucks cheaper by the quart there too.

I race pan cars and this winter there are going to be a lot more new guys starting it this year. Maybe it is the year of the TC and Pan Cars.

A T-Maxx kit rather than ready than RTR would be nice. I( and others) have a radio and perhaps spare engines. I would love a T-Maxx, but dont want another radio and a electric start motor.I suspect I am not alone in this...
