I'm new to Rc and was wondering other than the vechile what else will I need to purchase?

Due to where I live I was think about going with a Truck like a T-Maxx, but still not sure.

Any advice will be appreciated.

I am pretty new too. But you have many choices. Gas or Electric? Offroad or Onroad?(seems like you already have picked offroad). But for what else you need besides a car can vary. With the T-Maxx you don't need much more to get started. Fuel, Battery(for EZStart), and a few other things i can't think of right now. But one thing i think you should keep in mind is nitro can be harder to get into then electric. Maybe you should consider the E-Maxx? With the Emaxx all i think you need is batterys and charger. This is the best i could do for right now to help you but if you narrow your field some and give people some guild lines we can help you much more with what you need. And remeber i am still learning too. Later

Well if you want to do off road and keep it fun and easy since your a beginner i would go with electric. the E-maxx is just like the T-maxx just its in the electric version. For electric you will need batteries, and a charger. you will only need those 2 things if u buy a RTR (Ready-To-Run) truck or car. if u buy a kit car then you will need the controller, motor, ESC (Electronic Speed Control) and the Receiver and Servo(s) come with the Controller. Most Controllers come with 2 servos and if u have a ESC it only takes 1 servo. If you buy an MSC (Mechanical Speed Control) they take 2 servos. good luck and if you have any questions about electric you can e-mail me at skierpro397@ski.com

Definately Off road.

Real question is just how hard is it to learn on a nitro over an electric then.

And are most after market body add-on's work with both a T-maxx and E-maxx.

listen if you think nitro is way faster an emaxx goes about 7 mph slower out of the box than the t the t must be broken in properly it also has a hard to tune engine and the ez start you should thow it away so it wont cause you any trouble dont buy nitro for your first car otherwise you will want to burn it

Oh, and Frosty, the Maxx trucks are just about the most hop-upable vehicles ever. There are countless body options. And, go with electric first!!!

Looks like an overwhelmly vote for electric first. Thanks guys this is why I asked.
Now let just hope the hobby store has the E-maxx over the T-maxx.

Hope to have the money by this weekend.
I'll cross my fingers and hope my auctions on ebay go for some decent dough.

I started with Nitro...3 messed up cars and a lot of money later...I went into Electric and haven't thought about Nitro since! Way too complicated for me. Charge battery, plug it in and go :) I don't see myself playing with Nitro for a looooooooooooooong time!

There is a recall going on with the E-Maxx right now. Actually it is not the truck but the ESC that is being recalled. I tell you this because it has made the E-Maxx a little hard to find on the shelves of Local Hobby Shops (LHS).
I have a T-Maxx and wish I had waited for the E-Maxx to come out. I have to admit for realism and run times Nitro is awesome. But like the others have said Nitro can be a bit overwhelming for beginners to learn on. I'm still glad I own a T-Maxx but can't wait to get the Emaxx. People complain about waiting for two batteries to charge but this can be eliminated if you have two chargers and more then two batteries and if you plan ahead and charge the batteries well before you are ready to go out and play.
Just my thoughts,
Jerry
