How many of you have got a e-mail from im-ur.com today? just wondering as i just received one asking me to write articals for them.. weird...
I hope RCCA didn't put us on some stupid list cause that would really tick me off. I'll probably receive a stupid newsletter that is impossible to cancel every day.. ARGH..

I got one, I think everyone got one, even though they are trying to make us fell "special". I agree with stormperson, I don't feel it was right of rcca to give our e-mails out(or who ever runs the boards and has access to our addresses). Not upset but... RCCA probably got paid a big chunk of change, or they didn't, they just though it was a cool site were we could express our selfs better. I have no more comments until I here from RCCA or someone informed.

Got one too. Made me feel special. Until now. I dont mind the it but I'm getting to much junk mail and none from friends. All well. And heck I'm only 16 and they want me to write articles. Take a train to the next nearest sucker and thats not me. I respectfully request that RCCA take my email off the website and try to come up with a private email within the site. Just my opinion. I didn't get any message from this guy and I'll tell you why.

I DIDN'T OK IT FOR MY E-MAIL ADDRESS TO BE VIEWABLE TO OTHER MEMBERS.

By the looks of it, all you guys who said "YES" to letting your e-mail be seen are getting it, and us smart guys who don't give out our mails to everybody don't get this junk.

So stop blaming RCCA and blame yourselves for getting spammed.

Change your profile to not release your e-mail address and it can't be seen by anyone.

Get it, got it, good.

BTW I do agree with you guys, in the fact that no matter what, spamming blows big chunks. But you set yourselves up for it.

A) the reason i gave out my email is so that people can email if they need help. it was a move of courdesy.

B)RCCA DID sell us off, however they respected the no email policy (at least)

So you guys seriously think that the clowns from im-ur went trough all the posts, clicked on each induvidual e-mail button, wrote down the e-mail adress and username, then put our e-mail adresses on the mailing list, and my letter even had my name at the top 'dear Daniel....'. If i was at im-ur i would just buy the list of the the administer. Oh well.

They either did the former, or there are programs that will pull all e-mails, or URLs, or HTMLs off websites.

Either way I am sure RCCA didn't sell your names.

If you don't want the mail just delete it.

Stop blaming RCCA for something somebody else did.

I didn't get one. I don't have my e-mail address visible in my profile. It's probably some scam artist with nothing else better to do than check all the member profiles. Then he copies your e-mail addresses and puts them in a database. He knows all addresses are valid since you need a valid e-mail to use this board. Steve...I hope my assumptions are correct and RCCA has nothing to do with this.

We do NOT sell or otherwise give away ANYONE'S email address that is registered here or in the Live Chat. It's part of our commitment to keep others from pestering our users with useless email. Some of you have elected to have your emails visible through the profile link, which is great when someone who's also interested in RC wants to communicate with you. It's unfortunate, but it appears the bloodsuckers running the website in question have selected some of our users to spam. I would certainly encourage you to respond be whatever means they require to remove you from their email lists.
Are any of you signed up for any other RC websites that may have made your email information available? It's possible that were not the source. List the RC websites to which you're registered, and maybe we'll find the common denominator!

The e-mail I recieved yesterday mentioned this web site. I e-mail them asking whats up & they replied that the were getting names off various web sites manually. I went to the site yesterday, didn't hang for long as it appeared there was little of intrest to me. Steve, thanks for posting on this subject & I will leave my e-mail address up.

Yeah I thought there was something funny about that considering they choose me and I only have something like 20-30 posts here.(i have like 400 over at HPI). I just told them I wasn't interested. But RCCA was mentioned in the mail but I didn't figure you guys sold us out.

wierd, i just sighned up for this and i have about 10 posts so far. i also recently sighned up for the orange room. i have my e-mail available there too. i have about 600+ posts on TTT, but they need to update it. e-mail there isn't visable to anyone, and i got kinda tired of it so i sighned up here.

I just read this post today. hpiguy seems to be one of the only non-administrators who always has a real comment to say that will actually fulfill the purpose of this BB. I am not saying he is the only one, but he definately was in this post. The administrators have to put up alot I see. You guys come to their BB and accuse them of "selling you out" and you dont know that as a fact. Some of these post you have to fill in the stars (*) because someone doesn't have a more intelligent word in their vocabulary to express themselves. The administrators have said time and time again that certain words aren't supposed to be used. So are you asking to get kicked off the BB by breaking the rules?
Oh and by the way I never received one of these e-mails.

Look, I have not gotten this e-mail? Its spam robots that people use to collect email adress from this boards like this. I am not a adim or monitor here, and I not trying to act like one neither. But I do know this much RCCA get enough money from ads that the need to do this is kids type !@#$!

I am more upset than most of you, because these shady operators have compromised the trust of our members here. If nothing else, they should have taken the high road and cultivated their own email lists by their own means. To raid a website that doesn't engage in the practice of making their member's email addresses available for their own selfish purposes is reprehensible at best.

Having said that, I know this is generally unsettling, but anyone who cannot refrain from using foul language or who continues to accuse us of any type of foul play, when I've clearly stated TWICE that we have NOT made any members email addresses available to anyone, will immediately lose their posting privileges. We don't operate that way and no further false accusations will be tolerated.

Ok, after reading all these posts, I think something should pointed out to everyone. You guys think that stealing our mail addys would take too long to do. These scammers and spammers actually pay people to work, 8 hours a day, maybe 2 shifts, to do just that. That is the only way they can get the word out about their web-site. We all know it's not the right way to do it, but it has happened.To come in here and start blaming this site for that is ridiculous. The folks that run this site KNOW that if they did that, we would all leave here. That's not good for business guys. And as (I hope) you all can see, the administrators at this site go out of their way to help us with everything from motors to set-ups. Frankly, I am surprised that nobody but HPIguy figured this out.
I guess I probably should have just kept my mouth shut, but you guys need to realize in the real world, things aren't always peachy. Don't blame people for things that you don't understand. 9 out of 10 times, you will blame the wrong person.

This sounds really funny, I mean it's not like you people haven't gotten spam before. It's what comes with e-mail. Do poeple get mad when a telmarketer or junk mail comes to there house? No they just say goodbye or throw it away, I mean come on it's the same thing. And gasman is right, how else do you think alot of these dot commers make money? I got the e-mail I read it asked a couple people about and just say nah. I'm not trying to be mean but you all sound like little kids(no offence). I mean look at you, you got Steve mad, now that's just not nice.

Steve, id just like to say, u and everyone at rcca are gods. there is no way i would beleive u "sold out" i didnt read all of the posts, but i did see yur name on here when i glanced at it. i received 2 emails from them. they even sent one to an account i wasnt even registered here with!!!! OMG!!!! i hate that. i wish i could take over one of those buisinesses. i would run it right into the ground, after i amde a little money, lol. there is no way i would EVER believe that rcca sold out.

Riggy, after being on one of the best r/c boards around. on about.com I really feel this board is just going thur some growing pains. But rcca is not selling e-mail address thats for sure.
