i have a electric traxx street sport with a mach. speed controler and want to make it slower to run on a portable track any one know how?

Yeah, a Mabuchi 540 ('Silver can') motor will slow things down a bit, as will using a smaller pinion/larger spur gear, but the best method would be to use an electronic speed control, which will be much smoother and efficient at lower speeds. You could also turn down the throttle travel and get lower top end at full throttle. I do that when letting little kids drive my cars.

it would be better to change your gearing though then get a new motor though, it will give you quicker acceleration.
