2 of my local hobby shops want me to advertise my paint jobs in there shop. The great news is it is for FREE. So this is what I came up with. What do you all think?????????

personally, I don't like how the bodies are "inside" each other. I think it will look better seperated, but that's just me.

if you like, I could try my luck at photoshop and see what I come up with. pm me if u want.

I would up the price, I just did a simple paint job for a guy at my LHS for $75.00, he supplied the body. You do nice work and some people will pay much more than that.

I wouldn't set a price range; perhaps a minimum would be good. On the ad, I think it would look great with just the blue & yellow sedan, especially a larger picture to show it off better. Or better yet, see if the LHS will keep a painted body in the case or something like that, so people can see what killer work you do in person. =)

That is my problem, I don't know what is a fair price is. I don't want to over price my work. Thanks for the pointer that means alot coming from a paint god such as yourself:cool:

Those are some awsome bodies!! And they are at a great price, mosquito bodeis sells theirs for like $300. If your prices are that good i dont see a problem in showing the(it might help you get better business actually). I would buy one of those bodies any day for that price.

BTW, my name is dennis too:p

Great name, You are saying some body is getting $300.00 for a painted r/c body? Holy crap:eek:

Looks great to me. And also, your prices are the best I have seen for that GREAT of a job. And if you keep that up, you will be one of the priced painters(and you are one of the best I have seen) there is. No affence to anyone else though.

I like the second example also, but i think one more body should be added to it. A truck body with a different paint scheme might be nice to show some diversity. It doesnt have to have a different paint scheme but i think having something besides just touring car bodies might be a little more attractive.

Actually, after looking at it again i think it looks just fine:D

I would definatly up the price. if i were in your shoes with your talent i would start it at least 50 bucks with them suppling the body.

I will keep my prices where they are at. Great artistic quality at a whole sale price. affordable price means more business, higher price means less business.

I kind of like what was done for me as well but the blurr hinders the detail of the paintjob.

Yeah, King, but the one you did, quite frankly, is really no good and is likely going to be more of a hindrance than a help to your business.

Which in a way is fine, all the more for the rest of us :)

If you want a poster with 'wow' factor, go with the one gizmoguy303 made - the information is clearer, the aesthetics are sharper, it shows your work off rather than hiding it, and overall conveys a much more professional feel. I'd buy from the guy with the gizmoguy poster - I wouldn't give the other one a second look.

You asked for advice, maybe you'd better take it..?

Gizmo. The members have spoken and they like what you have done better then what I have done. The only problem is I something done in hi res. Can I send you two of my favorite paintjobs and have you create something a little different then the first one you did? Also just put on there my starting price. $35.00
Thanks

PS I just need your email and I will send the pictures

Sure, it's gizmoguy303@sbcglobal.net. I already have hi-res (full-page sized) versions of the designs I posted earlier. If you want different pictures in place of the ones I used, please email me the pics. Glad I could help.

Sorry it took so long - I was at the track yesterday, and got home at around 11:30pm. :D Here's what I came up with, with the pictures you emailed me:

To tell you the truth, I like the bodies I used in my previous designs better than the ones you sent me. But hey, it's your poster. ;)

Gizmoguy, I like the work you've done with the filters. It really spiffs things up. I hope that you're cool with a bit of constructive criticism, as I have an idea or two based upon marketing and graphics experience, as well as from a consumer standpoint:

If you could make the "highway sign border" thingy with the flames a bit smaller, it would give more room for larger pictures of the cars. I think that the way it currently is, it overpowers the cars, which should be the focal point and leaves a bit too much blank space surrounding the text.

Which cars you both decide to use in the picture is of course up to you guys, but in my opinion, the blue and yellow sedan and the classic would go well together for the ad. It would appeal to those who like the modern cars as well as the classics. I don't think it would need a monster truck or stadium truck body - the classic car has good lines that should appeal to ST and MT fans as well.

Thanks for your hard work. I have to say you have talent. I don't like the porshe flipped the way you have it because the lettering on the car is flipped now. Also I don't like the neighbors background in the picture.

Hey Gizmo, That is some awesome stuff.

But, I would not but the big black arrow. Out a lighter color arrow. When i see something I am more inclined to buy it if I has brighter colors that catch my eye.

heres a few little things i coudl pick up on that might make the poster a weeeee bit better.

the flames on the road sign thingy make those so they match kings style of flames

and make the 35.99 stand out some more, for that matter king you should start bodys off at 39.99 ( it looks more profesional)

then get rid of the back ground area in that bottom pick it dosnt really do anything for it but the way its blended into the sign is pretty sweet!

3rd is best with the other bodies.

hey king, sorry for not filling my promises but things have been very "ovewhelming" the last couple of weeks and i cant do stuff as good as gizmo anyway...

btw, gizmo, try adding a gradient in the background, maybe 50% opacity....

Lapster

Gizmo, I would make the price the same as the other letters. The flame look of the price draws attention away from the bodies. Im sure King wont have any problems ith not selling bodies, they will find the price.

03-21-2004, 09:20 PM
I say just take the catr ou of the picture with the backround and use it with the grass, looks WAY better to me. The price thing is GREAT!! And I think the Stadum Truck he did a little while ago should go in place there. It looks alot better there IMO because the classic car gives me a since of only cars still. And the same size also too. Looks ffantastic IMO that way! Just try it.;)

Where are you King? Just wondering if you were still interested in me making these posters for you or not. Let me know what design you like, and I'll email the full-size pics to you. If you don't want any of these, just let me know. No hard feelings. :D But at least tell me something...

I think everyone's input into the design of this has jaded your opinions of the work, if you just stuck to something some what simpler like you had in the beginning it would work fine, don't take everyones ideas to heart, adding flames to this that an the other thing, just my2cents I've only been doing graphics and photoshop now for like 10 years. I would offer to help but it's gotten a little crazy on here lol... Anyway you did a very nice job Gizmoguy kudos.

Hey King, so you charge 35 dollars with the body or 35 to lay paint down? I am getting 50 including the body and my work is close to yours, but you still have experience over me, I think you could get 60-70 for yours if its slick and clean. I would also look into doing this on ebay, I have, ebay is a great market just because there a few bodies that are in more demand then others. I have seen a really bad looking xxx nt body go for 60+ dollars on there. Good luck on your new venture, I am making the same one, mostly on ebay and at my local track.

Heres a linkie to 2 of mine, pics are a little lo-res but ok...

Hey Dude your work is pretty good. I start out at $35.00 and that doesn't include the body. I will have to look into that ebay thing.
Thanks

Hi again, I wanted to share this with you guys, this guy is the best on ebay right now IMO, he usualy paints just 1 a week, but they always get at least 80+ for them. Yea when I said the xxx nt on ebay was bad it was really awful not "bad" as in good lol. Anyway King you should really check it out you could make some good money. I'm changing my ebay screen name to ThePitBox and i have 220 pefect feedback that does help people feel very comfortable buying then.

Linkie http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3182982122&category=44015

Just looking at the pics of his bodies on his feedback has given me alot of ideas, I'm going to be very creative with the liquid mask, just got to hurdle the learning curve and not go through to many bodies figuring out what to paint and cut first etc. I love the ripped metal effect, combined with flames on top of or under, checkered flags, it's all there.
