I've been out of electric for over a year and a half(last batteries I owned were Panasonic Stock Metal Hydride 3000's), and I'm getting back into it in a month or so. I've still got my Novak Millennium from when I used to race electric, so I'll be using that to charge my batteries. It's the Millennium v1.2, which isn't the Pro version with the Pit Wizard software built in, but IS nimh safe(volt threshold goes down to 4mv/cell). Since I haven't been running electric for a while, I also haven't really been paying attention to new battery charging and care techniques(if anything has changed), and I've kinda forgotten what I used to do with my old packs. So, my question is, how should I be charging GP3300's, and what kind of techniques should I be using to care for them? Thanks!

Charge at 5 amps for mod....6 amps for stock. If its hot outside, use a low cutoff....if its cold, use a higher cutoff. Discharge at 30 amps for mod...20 amps for stock.

Yep, 5A charge rate for the GP3300's. For the Novak Millenium 1.2, set the Peak Detection to 2mv. Your charger will work perfectly for them.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but is it alright if i just charge my GP3300's at 3.5 amps? I am not racing with them this season, only bashing and maybe some occasional 'races' with my friends on the tennis courts.

Batteries like consistancey! If you always charge them at 5 and discharge them at 20 then let them sit for 1 hr...they will want you to do that for every time. If you change their pattern, then go back, it will take a while for them to accept and act the same to the original style.

If you go to www.fukuyamaracing.com, they have the correct process for charging GP3300's on their site in the technical section.

....Do the newer type Nimh cells require any specific type of charger??? Last cells I owned was over 8 years ago...Panasonic P-170's (1700 MaH NiCads)....I just had a normal peak detector charger.

If you have an adjustable peak detection on your charger, then you might be fine. If you can set the peak detect to about .028v - .036v, then you should be fine.

Dave - I charge at 6-7amps with a .028v detection on my PitBull. I discharge them at 30a after each run, and put them on a tray about once a month to equalize the cells. :)
