i just recieved my stampede, which is awesome

and i bought a pirhanna peak charger for it

the charger almost immediately switches over to trickle charge when i plug the batteries in, do i need a discharger?

Sounds like its false peaking.

What pack are you trying to charge and how old is it?

charger is new too

seems that it was false peaking, but now it just worked on a battery but charged it and the battery got hot so i removed it

Yes that's my charger, it's super hot but i'ma get a fan from radio shack to use on it hah

right now i finally got it to fast charge on 6 cell mode (i've been charging my nicds on 7 cell haha, stupid yes, but what the hell they're 10$ a piece :) it's been like 10-15 mins, i'm waiting for it to switch over to trickle

But charging a 6 cell pack at 7 cell can damage your charger

It didn't work when i opened it ... i'm gonna send it in and get one that works.

fixed it, i didn't realize that batteries took forever to charge on their first charge

Usually on a first charge when the batteries are new there's NOTHING in the batteries, very little charge at all. And charing them on 7 cell mode will false peak it..cause you're probably dumping more amperage into them then you need.

kinda had no choice... the 6 cell mode would start trickle charging immediately after i put the battery on fast charge, so what i did was put it in 7 cell till it was hot.. ran it then charged on 6 cell and it peaked correctly

Sounds like it needed a slight jolt to get it working.
