OK, who knows what the next step up in size and power is from the tiny? I love the tiny's responsiveness and maneuverability. It's light weight to power ratio means it never really gets going too fast - sort of reaches terminal velocity quickly.

I'd like to get a slightly larger fun-fly type model for outdoors use on those days that have a little wind. Possibly something that would run on an astro 010 or 020. Any suggestions on a parkflier a-la tiny style?

Has anyone scaled up the tiny say 33% ???

I have built the Lethargik from plans included with the January 2001 RCME, a British magazine published by Traplet and sold at Barnes and Nobles. I think the span is around 42" and the length is about the same. I powered it with a Permax 280BB and a 5:1 GB with 8x1200's. Flew at reasonable power settings for 20 minutes, would thermal nicely, and would last 15 minutes with aggressive flying. It was said to be an aerobatic slowflyer, but I couldn't make it do much in the way of aerobatics. I don't fault the design, though. I was using an HS-55 on the elevator with some 6 lb fishing line on a pull-pull. I tried a roll, it nosed down and didn't recover. After the second time, I stopped doing rols. It was easy to fix, I have been flying it for about 2 weeks. I have a Tiny, and the Lethargik would be a lot more fun with proper rigging. But I do miss the Tiny's really compact size. I am only vaugely familiar with the 020, but it should work. I was pulling around 8.5 amps with an APC 9x6 SF. It will fly in about the same space as the Tiny, due to similar wing loadings.

Chack out the Watt-Fun at S&E Modeler web page. It's in the Plans area and Laser Pack area. It's a fun fly type for a Sp 280 or Sp 400, geared I think. Should be a blast with an 020. Plans and laser cut ribs and fin - $30.

Check it out. They also had a construction article in the print mag a while back.

GWS has a new gear box by using 280 motor. May be good to your "Tiny".
