NS15S5
Novarossi, the company that brings us the most powerful production small-block .12 engine in the world, is now producing an outlaw .15 (2.5cc) version of their most venerable small-block. Dubbed the NS15S5, it features all the technology and materials that have made Novarossi the premier competition engine manufacturer, and now you can get their killer small-block in outlaw trim.
The NS15 features a turbo crankshaft that's 11.5mm in diameter, which allows for larger, better breathing center port. This larger port increases air/fuel flow into the engine, which translates into more horsepower. The porting in the face of the counterweight also optimizes fuel flow for more power.
The super-light piston is made from high-quality aluminum alloy and it is CNC machined. The unique piston material has been developed over many years, and is key to the longest-lasting, most powerful engines in the world.
This outlaw is a five-port monster, which will make you virtually untouchable in the horsepower and performance department, unless of course the competition is also running an NS15.
The NS15 will fit in any vehicle that will accept a similarly equipped .12 engine.
Maximum power: 1.80 bhp
Maximum RPM: 43,500

Those "inserts" in the carb, I always see them in the majority of Nova's engine pics and some other engine manufacturer's promotional ads. Is that what is referred to as a carb restrictor? I wouldn't know because I never ran one. Is that there for the sake of reducing output for the novice driver?
At first I thought it was to insulate the air from say a heated carb (hehe thinking too much about cold air induction).
So with this air restrictor in place (says interchangeable) I'm assuming that's a rated 1.8 HP only running w/o any insert at all, am I right?

the carb restrictor is there to limit power... allows better traction and also to be within the racing rules...

...racing rules?? Who buys an outlaw engine (esp. when it's got 5 ports and on top of that a size .15) to conform to roar racing rules? If I'm buying outlaw the last thing on my mind is rules.
Why would a class let you run say with a carb insert but you're still allowed to get away with 5 ports and/or bigger displacement? I never heard of a class limited to peak power, only by engine configuration i.e. .12 and 3 ports for most touring.
I can see the insert as being an advantage to being a more stable driver yes... but I can't exactly picture it as allowing you in certain classes when the whole engine is outlawed itself.
Racing rules and outlawed items is kinda like an oxymoron don't you think? ;)

I think it looks awsome but do you think they should have made a .15? I mean we know it isn't going to be cheap and not roar legal; so the question is how many bashers are going to pay 330 for a Novarossi when they don't even race?

Are you pretty sure it's gonna be around ~$330?! I didn't expect it to be around there and that is a lil bit steep for your average parking lot basher. But like they say, speed costs money. The bigger your wallet the faster you can go.
As for being a .15, it's good in a way that the technology is constantly being pushed forward which will eventually be accepted by the masses in due time. Then this will cause more competition from other makers and hopefully result in more and better products for us, the consumers, at more reasonable prices.
Now they should start making outlaw 18's!! I wonder if it'll hit the 2HP mark!

Why pay $330 for a nova or rb .15 5 Port engine when you can spend $165.00 for a Sirio .15 5 Port?

I did you so popular, to speak in a more uh mature tone the reason we pay so much for the Novarossi is because it last a bit longer may be more easy to tune and it has a more smooth power band. Anyways I never seen the Sirio 15 go how fast is it?

Last longer .... *ha* its all up to the user how long an engine will live ... lol read between the lines the only reason for paying $350 for the novas and rb engines is because your paying for a name brand.
@paule1 show me some proof that makes a Sirio .15 weak ... lol ;) sheesh do you even own one?

I've been running the RB V15T (roughly the same thing as the novarossi, similar power and specs, same manufacturer) and I can definatly without question say that it has more power and is faster than any JP modified, or Rody modifed .12 on the market.
Worth the money? Your call, but I'm happy with my purchase.
this thing is plain stupididty.
the RB still looks like a better engine because of the RB Bi Turbo Style crank.
But time will tell.
Juls.
