I have absolutely no expierence with losi buggies or trucks but it seems to me that the are 10,000 different models. There is the BK, BK2, kinwald, xxx, etc.... If anyone has any insight on which of these models are best. I know these models are all pretty good but it would be great to get some feedback on which one is their top model, sort of a list from best to worst. I looking to buy a used Losi and I don't know where to begin.

Thanks
Dave

Losi has only one vehicle in each category (on-road, off-road, etc.) but they come in different variations. Once you understand the structure it is very simple to figure out.

Buggy:
XXX - base buggy kit
XXX Kinwald Edition - base buggy kit upgraded with graphite parts and other race options
XXX BK2 - Kinwald Edition slightly altered with a updated tranny and more

4WD Buggy:
XXX-4 - base xxx-4 kit
XXX-4 Graphite - base kit upgraded with grahpite parts and other race options

Truck:

XXX-T - base truck kit
XXX-T Matt Francis Edition - base truck kit upgraded with graphite parts and other race options
XXX-T RTR - same truck, but pre-built and uses a different, more flexible plastic

Car:

XXX-S - base car kit
XXX-S Graphite - base car kit upgraded with graphite parts and other race options
XXX-S RTR - same car, but pre-built and uses a different, more flexible plastic

Etc., etc., etc., etc. Losi makes the standard kit, then comes out with a all-the-goodies version, then eventually discontinues the kit and just sells the all-the-goodies version and possibly a RTR version as well.

Hope this helps.

My 2 cents: The added goodies may seem great, and are surely a good deal for the extra cost of each kit (As little as 1/3 the retail price of the hop-ups), but you don't really need them. Besides the BK2 kit, all the fancy versions are is maybe a little lighter, some parts might be a little more resilient (But some might also be less). The actual difference between the kits is usually slight (Save for the 'Worlds' kits, which often have several different parts).

For the average racer, or backyard basher, you don't NEED the top-line kits, if budget is an issue. Chances are most of the people on this forum couldn't tell the different between an identically-prepped XXX-T and a Matt Francis Edition truck.
