Here are some pictures of the way I constructed my TM. Flying weight is 8.9 oz. Love that Moth!!!
The captions explain things. You should click on "open in album viewer." It makes everything show up on a small screen, and is in "slide show" format. If you can't find the "open viewer" button, click on the first picture and it shows it. If you have good eyes, just look at the thumbnail. Too bad, but there's no link directly to the viewer.

Sheesh! ya got me really pumped up now! I have just finished my Tiger Moth as well, and am waiting on a new TX Battery and then I'm off. Love the Red on the Cowling. Really adds a nice touch.
I am using the stock IPS power system that came with it. And a 7.2 volt 110 Mah Battery (The 150 Mah Packs were out of stock)
I have flown for about 13 years mostly 1/4 scale airplanes and this is my first electric.
From what I have read on posts and elsewhere, most seem to be pleased with it. I was just wondering if it has any bad tendencies? I haven't flown anything this small in quite a long time. I just hope this kit flies as good as it looks!
Best of luck in the air and on the ground.

Gotta say I love the tail wheel and the "wires" on the wings. Can you share how you did the wing wires? Do they help hold the wings in place or just for looks? Also, where did you get the tail wheel and how did you mount it? Did you just epoxy into the foam? Does the wheel provide much control on the ground?

Thanks Thunder,
There are numerous posts on modifying the Moth on

especially

The flying wires are functional and stiffen the wings. I drilled tiny holes in the struts and threaded them through in the same pattern as on a real plane, holding them with tiny dabs of epoxy. I used the eye and a bit of shank from a No. 10 fishing hook epoxied into the foam to attach them to the front of the wing. They're 10 # test Kevlar fishing line. Some use Spyder Wire brand, I use Cabelas'. Kevlar is best because it doesn't stretch. For the control wires I used Cabelas' Kevlar fly tying thread, it's thinner than the line and still much more than strong enough.
I made the tail wheel from a stock wheel from Tower or somewhere and made the fork from a piece of chopstick. The bearings and shaft were made from pieces of tubing from WD-40 type spray tubes and a sewing needle. Music wire didn't have enough temper to suit me. I epoxied a small wooden stick in the fuselage to hold the needle.
Others suggested the steerable tail wheel. I did it my way. ;) They really help on ground handling. I can drive it right up to me or land any which way and then aim it up wind. Only works on Macadam or other hard, smooth surface. Some who have the steerable tail wheel say they have almost as much fun driving it on the ground as flying. ;)
Good luck,. Email me if you have any more questions.
