Any body heard of the Draganfly?
Looks like a Firebird without the V-tail but standard tail. span is 40 and is a cross between the Fire and its bigger bro. Much adverised on Ebay but touts its great write ups in a lot of standard mags EXCEPT the four real model airplane mags.

The dragonfly is made by Diversity Model Aircraft in San Diego, and sold by Northeast Sailplane, among others. It was my first plane. See my responses to your earlier post about lite stik's and pusher configuration.

If flies great. But, if you are a beginner, you will probably destroy either the landing gear or the motor mount on the first flight. The fuselage is built up from two sheets of laser cut light plywood, with openings cut out to make it light. It is not covered and is completely open. A carbon fiber rod runs from the motor mount back under the light ply part of the fuselage, then just a bare rod back to the tail. The tail and elevator are made from simple sheet balsa. The wings are big and undercambered and hot-wire cut from single pieces of thick foam. You need to sand the leading edge and wingtips round. The wings have no spars of any sort. But you put some fiberglass reinforced tape lengthwise along the underside to help control the flexing.

I hope this gives you some idea what kind of plane it is -- pretty basic. But, it is relatively inexpensive, the gear you buy for it will work in other speed 400 planes (e.g., speed control and batteries). So, it's not a bad choice.

Different plane entirely. The first post had it right. The Draganfly is a knockoff Firebird XL. They call the Firebird a Swallow. Draganfly ship a lot of kits, and most of the customers are happy, but you have to judge for yourself.

Thanks to all of you for your answers. Anyway I just bought a Firebird. Will be doing it solo since I'm way out in the country and will be teaching my self to fly. Have a 6 acre level grass lawn so need something with no wheels and back engined. So wish me luck. Comments welcomed

I stand corrected. I thought draganfly was a typo and meant tobe dragonfly. If it is a knock of of the firebird it should be good as I've never seen anything bad about its performance.

I'm actually thinking of picking up a "Super Aviator" by Draganfly.

Anyone heard of it?
they're available at rctoys.com but I'm not sure if it's a really cheapy piece of equipment.

I was thinking of buying it to get the equipment, train and burn (hehe), then get a GWS A-10 or something :)
