Are the Airtronics "Z" connectors positive or negatative shift? Having trouble figuring this one out. :(

JJ,

I am by no means an expert on this subject, but I believe that the "shift" has to do with the transmitter modulation, and nothing to do with the servo connectors. I have been using the "positive" shift GWS R-4P receivers (designated "J" for JR, which are also positive shift) with Airtronics radios, however, these are older radios, before the "Z" connectors came out.

I think the reason they changed the connectors is that with the old connectors, the positive, negative, and signal wires in the connector didn't match up with all of the other radios on the market, therefore the Airtronics servos couldn't be used with anything but an Airtronics receiver (without switching the wires around in the connector), and likewise, other servo brands couldn't be used with Airtronics receivers.

The switch to the "Z" connector apparently rectifies this problem. Again, I'm no expert, so verify this before you buy something (or worse yet, hook something up wrong and fry a receiver). Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me will reply to your post, in the meantime I'll see if I can find a link to more info. I know I've seen it somewhere.

Good Luck,
Jim
