I have a batt question for all you people. If you have a 6 cell 3000 Nimh pack, should you get a per-cell discharger? I think that the cells would be kept more even by using something like trinity's per cell discharger. I'm going to buy 2 matched packs of 3300 NiMh batteries and build them. Would the discharger make any diffrence with these batteris as compared to a standard 4-5 amp pack discharger? Also got an tips on where to get 60/40 rosin core in something other than deans 1oz packs?

Radio Shack for solder. I use a T-30 to discharge packs, 6 cell down to 5.40V and 4 cell down to 3.60V. I will sometimes use a equalizing tray but only after discharging the pack on the T-30 otherwise it just takes a long time and gets hot. It was not advised to do anything more than discharge to 5.40V with the 3000 cells, but with the gp3300's it seems to be okay so far. Discharging at only 4-5 amps is tooo low, even 20 amps is low, I and a lot of others like to use 30 amps. Any dead shorting or equalizing cells down to a really low voltage will give less runtime, more voltage and lower IR numbers.

Depends on if you are racing or just bashing as to how high you need to discharge the pack before traying it. For bashing 10amps is fine (5 lightbulbs) for racing again the load can vary depending on type of racing done stock (offroad & TC) 20amp (10bulbs) modified 20amp or 12 lightbulb oval racing stock and 19 turn 25 -30amp (12-15 bulbs) modified 30-35amps. For equalizing trays (not discharge trays) I use the Trinity Real Time2.
Integy makes 3 models of dischargers for 6cells in a 15. 20 and 30 amp discharge. Use a 60/40 rosin core solder and a good hot iron for soldering (45watt or higher).
Packs will charge better if cells are discharged of any residual voltage for that you use equalizing trays (side by side packs) or pack equaliziers(stick pack).
