yesterday i bought an old school 80's bmw body by parma, the package says 1/10th scale, and i looked at it next to a few other bodies and it seemed only marginally wider.but i get the thing home and it seems gigantic compared to the hpi e-rally i wanted to stick it on. its about one inch too wide on either side of the wheels.is it mislabled and is really a 1/8th scale body or what?

length wise its acceptable, but width is so wide i can stick it on my old junior t with no problems with tire clearance.

I'm guessing its 1/10 scale but its 235mm wide instead of 190 or 200mm. Those bodies are meant to be ran on the 235mm 1/10 scale onroad cars (baby versions of their 1/8 counterparts with .15 big block engines).

ah,thanks for the info,i didnt have a ruler at home, but 235 seems to be dead on the width.im guessing it would be near impossible to make my 200mm car a 235.

If its 235mm and from the '80s, the chances are that its for the early touring cars that were converted buggys (i.e RC10 B2, Schumacher CAT etc). These needed wider bodies to clear the wheels and tyres, which were foams.

I had a Schumacher Wildcat and TTech Predator, with a Parma BMW M3 and Parma Renault Laguna, both 235mm.

i guess thats why it seems to fit so well on top of the old jr t chassis which was a jr 2 buggy with offset tires and some truck body mounts.ive been kicking around the idea of getting back on the road, and minus a body and front wheels its complete.now im halfway there.

i never knew that about the old touring cars.,i remember the wacky conversions like the monster truck rc10's and the beloved ski conversions where the front wheels were replaced with skis.thanks for the little bit of rc history

I used to race a 1/10th boscat works 4wd on foam tires using a peugeot 405 bodyshell.

Quite good cars to race, but the narrow yokomo/tamia scale saloon cars took over pretty fast.
