After reading the business theories of Mr. Lin, I begin to wonder if GWS will ever become a publicly traded company? :D
I can only see them gaining more and more of the market as electrics become more popular.

Dear Jim,

Thanks for your positive judgement to GWS. There is no secret of GWS, we just makes products which modelers dream on, but not base on profit. RC model is my hobby for life time. I fall in love with things fly since 4 years old! :p

When I was a high school first year (1969 ), RC model products was very expensive in Taiwan. I wished to make it lessexpensive! I used my father's import company to order RC model products from overseas vendors. Every evening, I deliveried RC products to many of Taiwan's hobby shops to keep price lower than ever! A crazy guy became distributor. We import a lot of American, Japanese and European made products to Taiwan. I am so happy to enjoy "TESTING" new products! Busy, but never tired. :D

In 1981, I worked for a company who make 2 & 4 channel RC system for MRC! Not so happy at this time, our export price was so low to be compared with Japanese radio, but I saw the end user need to pay about same price. This business relation ended very soon!

In the past 20 years, I kept visiting many International Model shows. I liked to spend time to listen to other modeler, and shared my dreams. I am so happy to be having many friends all over the world! :)

I am starting to establish an LAX service office. I feel the importers in USA did not provide enough GWS products information to flyers. Too many tradition makes RC not growing well as GWS expection. For example: GWS PG-03 Piezo Gyro price $50. We sold to UK more than 10,000pcs in the last 2 years, but only 500pcs in USA!

In the near future, I will visit USA more often. GWS like to show you how hard we worked out so many great RC products. How GWS try to let RC become more reasonable to be afforded by more peoples. :)

Mr Lin,

I applaud your success in ralizing the ultimate goal of tuning a life-long love into a successful business. -- It's ths 'American Dream'!

It appears you are seriously studying your US Market channels. I would like you to consider this as well. It seems that most large Hobby Shops are able to get your products easily, through the US distributors, but the small, specialty shops are forced to buy other brands from the distributors they deal with, or buy through other hobby shops. This really cuts into thier profit margin, or they are forced to over-charge the comsumer.

While some manufacturers are selling direct to the comsumer, others are just making the product easier for all the distributors to carry. As a consumer, we win either way. The Local Hobby Shop needs a reasonable supply-line to all of the good manufacturers (Like GWS).

Maybe your products' reputation and market share have grown to the point that you don't need the distributors? Not to put all the blame on them, since they are just trying to turn a profit too, but the little guy can not afford the high minimum orders and other requirements the distributors force on them.

Just my 2 cents worth.... :D

After RCHTA show, I spend a few days in LAX more than my original planning due to NY WTC was attacked! I feel regret things happend like that. I believe most peoples who worked in WTC must be very much great telent, they are doing a lot of contribution to the world!
Its a great lost and damage of all the world!

Just return to Taiwan to catch to say good-bye to GWS staffs on the way for a 5 days vocation to Thiland!

But there is typhon just driving me crazy too! GWS part of factory are now became "WATER WORLD" :D Hope we can recover soon! However, head office, R&D, warehouse, Labs still above the water! :D I am now watch the pump to remove water away from my production site!

Don't warry, GWS will keep going strong! :p

I hope you had some kind of insurance. Hang in there!!! Could you post who are your main wholesalers in the U.S.? I have a friend that owns a hobby shop who would like to stock GWS products and also get news on new products.

Dear Houng-wen Lin,

I've said it before and I'll say it again, thank you for providing and affordable, fun, great product for r/c modelers everywhere!

I presently have a Tiger Moth with your GWS receiver and servos, flies beautifully, and now has well over 100 flights on it. I also have a Cox P-51 Conversion with GWS motor, and receiver. It too has lots and lots of flights on it and it preforms flawlessly!

My only wish is that there were more local distributors here in Nashville, Tennessee. The two big players don't carry GWS products, probably because they can't make enough on their margins? Anyway, keep up the great products, you will surely have more business than you can handle!

Signed

One Satisfied Customer :)

However, most of them only carry very little part of GWS products! Tell them what is your favorite GWS products, so they may instock and let its ready for you! :D

Margin rate of GWS products for business partners is never to low! ;) But since each unit price are very low, many hobby shop thought they made very small profit on GWS products! But I believe GWS provide best cost-performance than other RC products on the market. The huge qty will be sold X samll margin of each good quality unit= Good income+ Great reputation+ stable long term relation with RC modelers! :)

How do you think? am I right? I wish that RC will more popular than past. We will not longly anymore. :D

Mr Lin,

I must say that I think GWS are the single most important company in the whole of electric R/C development at the moment.

I've got several models and I think almost every one of them has at least one piece of GWS equipment in it. Your Pico and Naro servos are great for slow flyers and here in the UK they undercut the competition by about £4 or £5 for equivalent 6/9g servos.

I also love the PG-03 gyro. I've bought just one of those 10,000 that you've shipped to the UK so far - but I will probably buy more because they turn a model that can only be flown in dead calm conditions into one that can happily stand quite a gusty wind. I have to keep moving the one I've got between models.

Most of all though I have to thank you for the Tiger Moth. In the UK it costs £30 and it is quite simply the BEST £30 I have ever spent on a model. It does great aerobatics and for someone like me who's just learning it's cheap enough that you don't need worry about crashing it if the worst should ever happen.

I've had about 25 flights on it so far. I've started to get pretty good at aerobatic flight and so far I've just had three major crashes - all of which were easily repaired with a bit of epoxy.

Keep up the good work (BTW, if your company ever floated on the stock market I'd definitely buy shares!!).

6 years ago, when I started to design Naro 9g servo, many business partners in RC industry thought I was crazy!

After Naro put into RC world, RC modelers accept Naro, recognized that cute baby really works!

GWS has a little more than 100 persons in this company. There is about 20 engineers always busy to carry out my new invention.

R4P receiver also set a new mile-stone for RC, at such size never been done so much pratical performance. However, Copy makers could follow soon without expense of R & D cost! :( Now, you can see so many BIG companies made similar items!

GWS always glad to work hard to create something new and better, but we also need RC flyers support us!

Unluckly, sometime GWS efferts were even to be instructed copy makers how to copy and imported by BIG companies who were so powerful and rich! Still want to get more!

Your support is very important to GWS, thanks a lot!:) This made us feel great, we are not longly, some one along with us!

Mr Lin,

do you have a distributor/dealer for Germany. I saw Batt-Mann selling props and the low grade gear drives but he doesn't make any effort including other parts.
Is the new 4ch receiver with JST connectors also in 40 MHz available? If so, where?
Thanx

Pls try to contact with WES Tech to get 40 Mhz R4P/jst version.:)

You can order GWS servo gear to make your own gear drives, I am sure GWS gears' teeth and pitch are much better than those stock toy gears!:p

Simprop, Multiplex both are great Germany company, distributed GWS with OEM logo for years.

If you have any difficult to do so, don't be hesitated to let me know.

Mr Lin,

It's great that a CEO is so much in touch with their customers.

I have a question regarding GWS products in the UK. Why do EPS 280 and 370 drives seem to be available in the US but we haven't seen any here in the UK as yet ? What are JR Perkins up to ? I guess they are the distributers in the UK ?

Thankyou
