I was givin an AE RC12L Original that is easily 10 years old, it has no upgrades and is completely stock, is this car still worth racing?
I have good electronics to put into it but are parts available for it still, is it too heavy or fragile to be competitive?
Thanks,
Jerrit :D

Yes, not very much difference in capable hands. Key with newer kits is tuning options or changes in chassis layout. Heck I had 2 Tamiya cars Newman Porshe & Toyota Toms both 1/12th gear diff cars and I had a 12L at the time. Raced one of the Tamiya cars and finished second changes front to Associated LS suspension, changed diff to a ball diff and was finishing first a couple of times.
Car couldn't stay competitive due to the fact of limited tuneability and with a double deck chassis weight was another issue. Even the 12L was upgrades to a 12LW chassis before 12th scale racing sorta died out in the area. If the you have the original front end, changing to the new one will offer a better handling car, get rid of the spring for rear and install a shock and upper pod plate or make one. 50-60 bucks is about what you need to make a better handling car should you go racing.

Parts for the 12L may be in limited supply, but the 12LW should be a direct fit and you can still find parts at hobby stores and online.
