just go to walmart & get some of the 2250 or now I think they might have 2400mah AA's & make a 6 or 7 cell pack. that is all you really need to make it fun. the 4 AA's are no fun. From there I would get the bearings, oil shocks & then a motor. The adjustable tie rods are nice but not needed unless you're racing. The thing I like about them is that they don't break easily & parts are cheap.

I upgraded all my electric so I could run my M8 with it. I can't stand sport radio's or equipment. I like to be in control of my stuff, not having it control me. :)

I just did the racing shock upgrade, but it doesn't seem like that 20 wt. oil is enough or maybe the springs aren't strong enough. When I push down on the car, it doesn't get back up to full height without me manually doing it.

What might be wrong?

the shock oil has nothing to do with it, its the springs. you can either add pre-load spacers to the shocks (like little clips) or stiffer springs.

p.s. I just bought my self a mini t =D

yeah definatly get new springs, the oil is only for compression. im running 35 wt oil front and back with the stiffest springs made by losi. the handleing isnt that great with the stiff springs but i dont race, i do jumps and stuff at my local hobby shop. we have a huge jump set up in then building. its crazy, the last time i was there i hit the roof and broke another bulkhead. looks like its time for aluminium lol

I just got really bored, so I threw an extra set of rims from a Dub City model on my Mini-T. I can actually do a burn out now!(I leave small black marks whenever I floor it!)

Are Carbon Chassis's popular for the Mini-T? If so which is the "best" one out there.

Breakin2-

shock oil has an effect on both compression and rebound damping... the heavier the oil, the heavier/slower the damping (both rebound and compression)...

your spring rate will also have an effect on the rebound stroke... the heavier the spring, the faster the rebound...

if your rebound damping is too heavy/slow... you can do one, or all of these things to get it lighter/faster....

1. lighter shock oil

2. different shock pistons (one's with larger holes, or more holes)

3. heavier springs

because the mini-t shocks are so small (and the pistons much smaller as a result), even 20 weight oil is pretty heavy damping on a mini-t... very roughly equal to running 50 w in a XXX-T... the heavier damping isn't such a big deal if you are racing on carpet where heavy damping is really needed... but if you are out bashing, or running off road, even 20 is pretty heavy on the damping side... most of the more savy suspension tuners have gone to boring out the holes in the pistons for off road use...

take the Losi oil shocks with the standard set-up and run them off road and the mini-t will bounce all over at speed... bore out the holes or add a hole in each piston and the wheels stay on the ground much better...

Ok, either this week or next week, the MINI - T is coming to my house.

I know that I am going to go ahead and get some kindof battery pack for it, but I wanted to ask you guys which one. My little cousin has the losi one, and it is pretty fast. In RCCA mag, the winner of the race was using an orion baja motor and battery. Do you guys recommend this?? I don't want to have to wrench on this thing all the time. I want speed and stability.

Could I get some recommendations??

Here is my list of order of upgrades... so far..

1. battery pack / charger
2. bearings
3. shocks and springs

4. then a motor.

is this good?

thanks

btw... the guy who won the stock and mod classes at the mini-t nats was me... (if in doubt, i posted pics of my truck here on this thread this winter, compare the pics to the one in the mag... LOL)...

you list of upgrades is exactly what i'ld do with a new mini-t...

and as far as cells goes... if you order on-line, i'ld order the 1050 race cells from UnitedRC dot com... they put out more voltage than the Losi pack, and are priced really well... if you buy from an LHS... the Losi pack works pretty good for the price... be sure and buy a 6 cell 7.2v pack though.... and make sure you get 2/3a cells, not AA's or AAA's (i'm sure you already know that)..

li-po are even faster.... but not as safe and require a specific charger...

we ran Baja's at the nats because they were the fastest thing out there.. even a tad faster than tuner 300's... but they cost a lot more... for someone just bashing, a 300 is more than fast enough, live a long time, and cost a lot less than the Baja...

FLYBOY7 - thanks for the help with the shocks. I've tinkered with them a bit and they seem to work much better now. I've recently done the bearing upgrade as well and everything is running pretty well. I'd get a new motor, but I hate to solder. I'll eventually give in, but my thumb is still sore from where I burnt it soldering my B4's new motor to Dean's Plugs.
