Not sure, I don't even know what spur and pinion im running right now with my 13turn motor. Just be sure to keep checking the heat and make sure to use the "5-second test" when seeing how hot your motor is. If your motor isnt too hot then you should be fine.

Yeah I've been doing that ever sincee I put in new brushes. Kind-of a neat way of checking the temps.
Oh, and My dad got a Sportwerks 1/8 scale buggy yesterday. I'll have full details in my thread I started.

Yea, if your motor temps are not to bad right now you should be fine. What motor are you running again?

Sportwerks? the one with the spektrum?
I'm finally going to place the order to get my evader back in commision! I'm also gonna pick up a method R, 13 turn.

@ elecracr: I'm running the 12T team Orion Formula Sv2 motor. I ran 8 packs through it today at the track and the motor stayed cooler than I've ever had an electric motor run. I've also got loads of acceleration too!
@ RControl Freak: Yeah, the turmoil has got the spectrum, which was a major selling point for him. He's had it with the nitro evader and wants something that's bomb-proof and 1/8 scale to beat me! :D
That 13T orion motor ought to be good because it's got ball bearings in it. Have fun!
Oh, and I'm the town-best at 1/10 electric stadium truck racing because we had enough guys to run a race. I was up against a rustler with the 12T 550 motor and the brushless version of the losi XXX-T. It was a 5-lap race, and I smoked-em all. I put the rustler a lap down and had the losi at least half a lap down. It's all skill, because if I was driving that losi.........

The Rustler never was much of a racer, even with the new engine, but if you can beat someone's $350 Losi, with your $200 Duratrax, then that' pretty damn good! Good job! :D

I have the SV2 13turn double. It moves pretty well, however not near as fast as my 6s brushless.
The losi may have had a problem of having too much power. The evader is a handful with brushless, the key is getting used to the power and knowing that you dont have to use all the power when driving. You arre correct though about it being mostly driver skill.

Heh, thanks! It falls under the "who's driving" catagory. Plus the guy looked new. I couldn't drive to save my life a year ago, but I can hold my own now!!!

I might get a brushless system eventually to keep the old girl running. I want to keep this as my back-up for when I get the GT2. I also might get it to keep up with my dad's new buggy! :D

Well, duh!
A little off topic, but we went to look at a 1967 Ford Mustang today, the real deal, that was on sale for 3500. My dad said that if I can get the money, he'll consider it! This thing was nice, too! (Sadly, it's not a V8, but a inline 6 will do fine!) Having an old mustang has always been my dream!

Cool! I've been a fan of the old mustangs myself! I'm gonna have a 2001 black PT cruiser myself, but the 'stang sounds nice! :D

My 6s brushless has so much torque that just pegging the throttle is not an option. I consider the fun factor 10X greater with my evader brushless. Once you get moving, it flies. I think my next mods are going to be a higher turn motor, so that it can handle more voltage. Also, when you go brushless keep in mind you WILL need atleast an aluminum idler at the very minimum.
I think this summer I am going to put GPS on my evader and see how quick I can get it. I am very positive I will be able to get to 60mph.
My evader is in pieces right now, becuase i went over a jump, flipped, landed upside down after going about 7 feet in the air. This cause my front shock tower, chassis, rear chassis brace, and motor mounts to break. Hopefully I will get my brushless esc back before I get it fixed, it is just to boring with the 13turn in there...

CRAP!!!! I've only broken 2 parts. You're breaking half the car. I've got to bash harder! :D
That mustang ought to run good if you just perform normal oil changes and once-over the whole engine when you get it. Other than that, enjoy my dream ride! :)

anyway, thanks for the advice, but back on subject....
if I want that car however, then I'm gonna have to kill spending cash on this RC stuff.....

03-06-2007, 05:32 PM
Well that sucks. I've devised a secret and ultimate plan on how to pay for both a car and RC stuff.....
A JOB!!!!!! :D
I'm thinking of working at the local CVS or walgreens just to earn enough to save up for a mantis or Revo.

Yeah, I'm looking at applying for a lifeguard position..... I'm taking a training program in April. Like my parents are hand me 3500 bucks?! Maybe in a dream! :D

My parents are gonna provide the car, insurance and the "driving school" fees, but I'm providing gas, oil changes and regular maintinence.
It's not too bad. The car gets about 25-30 Mph on the highway, and that's how I get into and out of town from where I live.

I've been trying to find other aftermarket bumpers to go on the evader, and have only found one. What kind do you have on yours?? I know it's an RPM, but for which car.......

i have enough trouble keep my bx running! still, if its on ebay, then you'll find someone who'll buy it!

I didn't want to buy a whole new one (yet!!), I was hoping that he'd share what bumper he had! :D So that I could get one. :)

I busted 2 parts on my car because I bragged that my car had survived, again. I broke a sterring knuckle arm and a C-hub. I got both parts swapped-out and went back to the track later that day, only to have one of the ESC battery lead melt on me. I then spent the rest of my day helping this guy with his ofna buggy and trying to get it to start. It ended-up being a craptacular starting motor on the car (it was so hot at one point that it was actively smoking!!!!) So the next time I see him I've got a sheet of part numbers printed out to help him convert his buggy to a shaft-start. He's a nice guy. His luck really ran out when he went to go home and his car battery was dead. That really sucked for him. We stayed until there was help comming.
While at the track we saw a couple of older guys screwing around with some stampedes (the new ones) and flipping and jumping over one another. It was too much fun to watch!
RC is soo much fun when your helping out others.

I'm gonna start a journal of broken or lost parts, including the price, on this thread. Starting with the before mentioned and now with this:
I shot a spring pin out of my left rear rim earlier this week. I landed off of one of the singles and suddenly lost power. While walking down from the stand, I thought I lost a driveshaft. I brought it back to the pits and started to work on it. I turned the wheels and inspected the driveshafts. Both were intact, but the driveshaft outputs were spinning in opposite directions. I thought I destroyed my diff when my dad pointed out that my wheel was not connected to my axle. Turns out that the plastic on the rim broke and allowed the spring pin holding the wheel on went for a ride. It was a free fix because I had another at the house.

Your output shafts are supposed to turn in different directions. This is what the differential does when you rotate one side, the other moves in the opposite direction.
vaderbxman
03-17-2007, 02:55 PM
I was turning both wheels the same way, and the output shaft was turning in the opposite direction. The axle lost its pin and was just freewheeling inside. Sorry for the confusion! :o

I'm going out later today to "race" with another 1/8 buggy other than my dad's and another 1/10 electric stadium. :D

Hey yo, Evader dudes.
I just installed the Mamba Max into my EVST and I'll post my findings here.
Very old worn out EVST with burned motor and decent rear tires, sloppy shocks, worn out front tires and suspension.
Installed Mamba 5700 with a gp 3300x6 cell and 15 tooth pinion and all settings pretty "soft" on the ESC cuz everyone says they are so fast.
First impression isn't real great for speed, but the easy programming, install, and adjustability of the esc is great. This isn't by far my fastest evader, but the run-time is great. speed for speed the run-time go from about 6 minutes to 10.

I got used to it pretty quick and so went to a 7 cell battery withthe same gear and settings. Wow, now I'm impressed. This is almost my fastest evader now (which always had runtime of 5-6 minutes at race speeds) but this one has 9-10 minutes.
Must be in the efficiency. Driveabibilty is great and even slow speed isn't bad at all.
Ok, 2 broken rear plates and a servo puts me in the pits for a bit. Maybe I'll retire this old chassis and build a new lipo one. I thik a good set-up is the 2S with the 5700.

I just bought 55 dollars worth of parts off of ebay for a total of 9and a half dollars. HOLY CRAP!!!! I got a complete differential (about 25 dollars) and a COMPLETE, with the spur and pinion slipper system. (about 28 dollars)
That was a steal. The lady was also selling a set of driveshafts, but it was for the old Evader. I'm really happy my father pointed it all out!! I got the diff with 2 seconds to go and got the slipper with about a minute to go!!
The lady's name is kvrc on ebay. She tore apart an evader prebuilt and sold off the parts in systems (steering, shocks, tires, ect.) all with starting bids for 99 cents. Way cool! I paid more shipping than I did parts!!
Oh, and I'll post evader shots later. I've got work to do! :o
