Here is GWS-EDF50 new products release information, will be display during the up coming RCHTA show at booth #133 GWS stand.
GWS expect this unit will be a great help for electric duct fan flyers may have a better choice for pay less fly EDF with better performance.

The GWS-EDF50 will come with special tuned up carbon motor, which can develop a great performance at 7.2V, you will see the different test datas compared with with or without case tested by using GWS 12x30mm High performance EDF carbon motor. Tatoal set weight include motor, wires, heatsink will be 29.8g, while give a incredible 73g out put thrust at 7.2V.

Boy -- just the ticket for an A4 that I have been thinking about. Will have to design very light.

Houng-wen,

Am I correct in assuming that since it's called "EDF50", the fan diameter is 50mm?

73g of thrust is good. The EDF guys like to stay at or above %60 weight to thrust ratio to accurately simulate jets. This means your plane can weigh 102 grams or between 3.5 to 4 ounces and perform well. That leaves 72g to 100g for radio, battery and airframe. That seems possible depending on what battery we are going to need to maintain that thrust for a reasonable time. EDF's are amp hungry things....

Of course two of them on something really makes the numbers look good. Now we can have a 7 to 8 ounce plane with 5 ounces left for battery, radio and airframe. That's easily done!

Happy flying!

EDF50 test datas listed as below again to be typed with better space:

According to my experience, 7.2V 110mah will last for 2-1/2~3 minites. 180mah 4~5 minites. 270mah will last for 6~8 minites.

For twin jet, you need to double the battery capacity to get the similar result. However, flying time also depend on your model design.

GWS A-10 & B-2 will comming soon. The other popular model will continious to be carried out. ;)

Wish every body can enjoy Indoor RC EDF jets soon!

Houng-wen Lin,
I nuked it out. it's a 20x20x3 prop so that's a 2inch dia, 2inch pitch, 3 bladed prop. Is the heat sync stock or a recommended accessory?
Thanks, Roy

EDF50 rotor blade is D2"XP2"X3 blades.

Since this High RPM and High power cumsumed( about 21.6Watt ), So heat sink is a must! Inorder to let it run cool and steady power, EDF50 come with heat sink as a standard parts equipped on motor! :) No need to pay extra cost! Even the motor wire with connector pin is ready on board.

I believe Horizon will carry EDF50 in stock soon, but yet. During RCHTA, they still not order from GWS. You need to write to Horizon, push them to do, otherwise, they thought who will need this? Big company moving slow! :D
