Hi,

I am planning to get Tekin BC112C AC/DC charger w/ (E25) software. Doese anyone knows this charger will be able to charge NIMH batteries safely??? Someone mentioned that some software not able to charge NIMH?
Did any tried it w/ this software version ?

Thanks.

like i said on the other thread,
No it will not charge nimh properly.
You need to spend another 55USD and shipping to get it to H31 version which will let you charger the NIMH batts

Yes this charger will charge NiMH's safely the only diffrence in the updated profiles is the cutoff voltage.but that's really no biggy. You won't hurt the cells just keep an eye on their temperature.

Whether it's ok or not, really depends on which nmh batts your charging. Most of the good newer batts are ok with a litte higher delta peak value. There have been many very experienced race guys on here & other boards that said they never had any problems even on the old nmh Panasonic cells, & they were very sensative to heat. The new Sanyo 3,000, 3,300, & GP 3,300 charge at a much higher delta value, more in line with what the older nicad charge profiles were. A lot of racers charge their GP's at a .050v delta. If I remember right, the older Tekin in the P mode (w/ no flex) is less than that, but I'd have to check to be shure. I have also charged nmh radio, & receiver packs on our old Tekin, & the packs are barely even warm when done. We have 5 Tekins (112c's, & 112a's) & they have been outstanding, with only a few blown fuses from wrong hookups. One of thm did short out the 110v ac cord, but that was simply form normal wear & tear from hard & often use. All I had to do was cut the cord back, & it was good to go again.

The H25 will charge NiMh fine, there was never any need to get them upgraded I've got 5 112a w from h24 to h33 (the last version of the few released by Tekin) None have been upgraded and all have been used with NiMh from the first generation to the 3300. I also use Integy DC chargers (to have as replacements) 2 16X5 DC and 1 16X5v6. Charging packs have been the same temperature and MAH ratings are very close.

I've even used my older 100L chargers (DVM is used with it to monitor pack voltage). As long as a charger uses a linear charge and you have someway of monitoring the pack voltage it can be used, newer chargers or upgrades were a ploy the only things newer chargers offer are selectable modes, allows you to do other things without having to stand and watch the pack. Chargers no matter the level of costs are still prone to false peaking with the 3000 NiMh not matter what I've done.

Manufacturers are telling the same thing they did with Nicad batteries, that pulse and flex charging improve a batteries performance and life - I haven't noticed a big difference - had some cells go bad that were pulse, reflexed, linear charged. Same for the information given about NiMh cells certain mfg were telling us the cells didn't have a memory and needed a special charger. Those who have used NiMhs and have tried other methods will tell you NiMh have a memory (perform the way they are charged/discharged), really didn't matter how they were stored - with the newer GP cells performing just like a Nicad (likes higher charge rates, performs better if stored completely discharged even for long periods and doesn't false peak like the other NiMh - with some even dead shorting them - only drawback to that is they lose more runtime but voltage increases - same thing that occurred when dead shorting 2000 and 2400 Nicads).

Just say I have become a little wary over the years of manufacturers claims and tend to try different things myself and use what works the best.

HighRoller and Railman,
I have a 112C with the H30 software and I was wondering what is the best setting for charging the Panisonic's 3000s. I read one time that "P" could be used for NiMh and then recently I heard that "P" and "P1" could be used for NIMH . Whats your take on this? Also do you recommend a Flex setting for the NIMH or just leave it off?
