I've recently began experimenting converting styrofoam gliders (~4ft wing span and around $5.00) that can be purchased in craft/hobby stores to park/slow fly electric RC. I don't know if this has been done before or not, but I'm just putting this out to see if there is any interest in my project. If enough is generated I thought I would take the time to send some pictures and a "lite" construction article. The plane basically consists of a stock GWS gearbox and motor, HS-55 servos, GWS reciever, and castle creations speed control. It's very simple, and my prototype came in around 8oz, but I'm quite sure an ounce or so could be shaved. The prototype styrofoam plane has a fairly aggresive swept wing that looks pretty cool in flight, at least different from the norm. Anyway, just thought I'd through this out to see what kind of response I would get.

Sure, Jef raskin did an article on the conversion in Model Airplane news a few years ago, Gary Jones B-36 uses the wings of one with 6 motors!
See the posts in the last two weeks for additional info.
