I have used the FMA SC5 on lots of 280 motors with no problem and they only cost $19 from Cloud 9

Are you guys refering to the FMA Mini 5? If so, I've used mine for S280 motors with no problems. I bought mine from FMA Direct (listed in the vendor links of this site)
for 24.95...

Castle Creations Pixie 7-P should handle the amps and it's a very
nice programmable light esc. The cost is not
prohibitive either.

Try a Sirius GFS speed control. Can handle 10 amps continuous (3 amps more than Pixie 7p), weighs only 1 gram without wires (same as Pixie 7p), and spec'd for more than 2 servos. If you are planning on using the Lithium metal cells in the future, I would go for the Pixie 7p because it's programmable. If you are planning on going to a lightweight 4-5 channel acrobatic model (Champion, Tiny, Lil Hornet, etc.), then the GFS would be best. They are the same price also.

I fried my GFS due to soldering error. Sirius was very understanding due to proximity of Microprocessor input power pin on controller. They sent me a new one, no charge !!! Talk about customer service. I heard Castle Creations is good with their customers also. Can't go wrong with either one, just depends on what you plan on doing in the future. If you can afford it, get both, only $35 each.

I have two Pixie 7p's and one Sirius GFS.

Cloud 9 carries a lot of things not listed on the website. Call John Worth and ask him if he carries the SC5. I just bought 4 more of them a couple of weeks ago.

I use the Castle Creations Pixie-7P. The Pixie is one of the best. It's a programmable ESC, very small/light and CC is a great outfit to deal with.
