hey yall,
im kinda a newbe, but kinda a vet to the world of electric, ive ran micro basically since they came out, but the 1:10 is kinda new to me, so here's the scoop.

i got a old skool RC10 B2 w/ some pink stock motor, bunch of extra deans connectors and battery bars and servos, 3 match built 1400's (hey, i did say old school...), an old airtronics radio, 2 chargers, 5 pairs of rear tires, 2 pairs of fronts, some old all wheels drive electric metal chassis buggy that i have no clue what it is. also, a novak tempest pro ESC, and an explorer sport ESC.
price: 125.00

next:

i got 3 hpi sport 2's (2 complete, one needs a few steering components),6 sets of tires (total), a stock motor, duratrax contendor speed control, and a few random extra parts, and a partridge in a pear tree.

my plans for the sport 2's are to make one into a stock racer, one into a pretty fast "hey yall, watch this" car, and have one for parts. the B2 is to solve my jumping addiction, seeing as my inferno with a .21 RZ decided to throw the connecting rod out of the case.... grrr.... so any reccomendations for a good stock motor would be great, as well as if anyone knows any motor limits on the ESC's, that would be cool too.
thanks,
-Rob

There have been discussions here recently of a company, Protech www.protechmotors.com, putting in extra care for their motors. Certainly more than Trinity or others.

A P2K2 is good, I also have used RacePrep to very good results.
The problem is that stock motor are so disposable. I had a friend magnet zap it, and it came back to life.

I use a Novak GT7 exclusively. It's super small to fit any chassis.

As for the ESC the Tempest Pro was no limit but due to age most motors used were 10 turn as the lowest turn used, the Explorer was 15turn w/6cells. Manuals can be downloaded at Novak with PDF plugin. The pink powder coat can is a Trinity (Epic) 27turn, 34 degree stock motor (have 14-16 and can't remember the name). The 1400scr packs (cells stayed very strong if used properly) should be fine for messing around as well as the RC10B2, some parts may be scarce with the upgrade to the B3 now B4 Buggy. There are several possibilities on the 4wd metal chassis (Kyosho Optima, Race Prep Radiant or a Tamiya vehicle). I'd say you got a pretty good deal.
For a motor, any will do plan off the shelf may be cheaper, the ones labeled Dyno, Pro really aren't much better just have brushes with higher silver content and brush springs installed - brushes still need to be broken in and bushings oiled. The raced tuned versions by Axiom, Fantom, Birdman etc due produce more power but at a slightly higher cost $35-45 and do require more maintenance. If store price is the same then it doesn't matter. If you want speed then you could use a machine wound motor in the 14-17 turn range cost $29 for a fixed endbell, $39+ for an adjustable endbell rebuildable one. With those you would need extra pinions to gear it properly.

thanks xray and highroller,
i think that AWD "thing" is a kyosho optima..... anyone wanna buy it!!??
as for motors, i was thinking about a p2k2 stocker, and as for mod, maybe a trinity D5 13 turn or a speed gems pro, i always ran trinity in the past, and never had a problem. thanks for the advice.
