Hi guys, what glues are you using for meat tray foam and depron? Which one is the lightest, strongest and cheapest?
Thanks, Grizz.

I use 5 min epoxy, spread extremely thin. Hot glue works good, too, but I don't trust it for stressed joints. I've had it let go after a while.

Polyurethane glue is my favorite.
Takes several hours to cure though.

The best glue I've used for Depron besides Epoxy, PU, CA and Hotglue is the one supplied with the Flying Styro Kits.
I don't have clue what is is, it's very liquid, transparent, a bit sticky and strong smelling. It dries very fast and results in very durable connections. It attacks the Depron a little bit which is different to Epoxy and PU that tends to sit on top of the Depron.

Hot glue. Its cheap and works really well. Just remember not to let it get too hot or it will melt the foam. Or you could use the glue from the GWS Lite Stik...it works really well too but if the foam is thin, you should make a jig to help support the pieces being glued.

Hi,
for glueings that must cure fast (sheeting of wings etc.) I use UHU Por (contact glue). I apply it on both sides very thin. It dries quite fast (few minutes), holds instantly after pressing together (no second chance!) and gives a very tough, but flexible connection that takes a lot of energy in a crash without breaking.

Thanks guys, frakenfoamy, is Probond a PU glue that you use? Its the only PU glue I've been able to find locally.
Grizz.
What is depron? Does it have a generic foam name and availabilty. Where do I find it?

I use the Zap brand CA that specifically says it won't disolve foam. It dries quick and works well. I think I got it from http://www.Peck-Polymers.com, who also sell Depron sheets. Right now all they have are brown. The E-zone BB is now up and running. There are several threads there on where to get Depron.
Depron is just a brand name for a particular type of foam. I can't remember who makes it, 3M? This is the foam used in meat trays that you get in the super market. It's also used for the disposable cafateria trays that my building at work uses. The meat trays tend to be somewhat on the thick side. Depron you buy from suppliers tends to be thinner.
See David Theunissen's site for Depron sources and what you can do with this material. http://www.flyelectric.ukgateway.net
Also see the Aeronuts site, a UK club who mostly do indoor Depron planes. http://www.aeronutz.free-online.co.uk/
There must be other sites and info, but this is a place to start.

Mike, I was going to ask you that earlier. What are brand names and manufacturers of PU glue? Is Probond brand from Loctite, Duro or who? Can you get it at Home Depot?
