Hi,
I have been into r/c for years but the last buggy I bought was a Losi Junior Two (which still performs flawlessly) I will mostly be bashing but may race if friends do. I am considering a XXXKE. Is that overkill? I want something that can take a beating so Aluminum shocks and strong cvd's are a must. My two friends who are considering racing both bought B4's cause the lhs told them to. However neither one has a clue how to drive so I am sure they could've learned on a much less expensive buggy. But in the slight chance that one of them is a natural I need something that is as capable as the B4. What do you reccomend?

BTW
Why are all 1/8 scale buggies Nitro?

I would recommend the B4. The losi xxxke is a great buggy, but the B4 is something new, something fresh, and as far as a few recent national races are concerned, something better!
The B4 builds in a very short time, and seems to be much more stable than the xxxke and the old B3. Even if you are a novice buggy driver, you'll notice the difference between the B4 and your friends buggies.

BTW, 1/8 scale buggies are all nitro b/c they are very heavy, very beefy, and are built to race and bash under the most extreme conditions. Were talking serious mudd, dirt, and anything else that can be thrown at these things. An electric 1/8 buggy would not be as capable because of the electronics. This is why the receivers and battery packs are sealed on 1/8 buggies, and most other nitro vehicles for that matter.

thanks FSU427P

How's wrenching on the b4. I own several street weapons and you can kill a saturday prepping for a sunday race so I am looking for something easy to work on.

Also about the 1/8 buggies: It just seems funny to me considering brushless is a possibility and also there's nothing wrong with the emaxx which is heavy and 1/8 scale. Why not dual motors?

if you want to "one up" your friends get a XXX-4. its like an 1/8 scale buggy in terms of speed and handling but is smaller and lighter. i own one and it is a blast to drive

I also third the B4. Went together fast except I had a faulty t-nut and thrust bolt, but after that it went together easily. It handles awesome and I came in 1st in qualifier for 1/10 buggy until my tekin rebel acted up:mad: . But yea, it is durable for me and I drive it in my yard all the time. Great buggy

if you get a xxx4, you cant race in the same class as your friends though, so their will be no competition between you and them. i have a b4, and i like it a lot. it handles really well, and as far as wrenching, all the screws are easy to reach...its a great buggy.
just make sure you get an aluminum hinge pin brace for it(unless you find some sadastic pleasure in breaking bulkheads):D ;)
