Have new 6 cell 50Mah battery when fully charged, static measurement, 5 cells at 1.38v & one cell at 1.36v. Is this a bad cell that should be replaced? Should not be concerned?

Hi,

static measurements generally don't give very useful data on NiMH and NiCd cells. besides that I would not be worried about a difference of 20mV between cells. A damaged cell will drop voltage much sooner than other cells *under load*.

I second that, I "hurt" a 270 mah NIMH pack by overcharging it. It still had the same static voltage, but the pack dropped to half that voltage under load....

... expensive mistake.
