I just did this today on my Sprint. It seems a lil faster.(acceleration and top speed). It also seems much smoother. Now I can do donuts on my sidewalk with pretty good tires. The only thing is it oversteers a lot, but thats also why its cool. So who else has done this?

I've done it a few times, just to see: You lose front traction, and when you are set up for 4WD, with that weight distribution, it doesn't drive as well. You do gain speed because you lose the drag and resistance of the front belt and diff. And when you light up the tires, you only spin the rears, so it's a little smoother if the rear stays straight.

ive done taht before. it made my car go crazy. Making it FWD is even more crazy! When i did that, my car was 100% undriveable!

when you do this do you have to completely take out the front diff.? Seems like it would make a LOT of drag if there is no power going to it.

The car will just be RWD if you remove the front shaft/belt, but removing the front diff would reduce drag a lot as well. You still reduce drag just losing the front belt, but only at the rear wheels, so there is more power getting down to the ground, but the front wheels have a little more drag on them.

no.. u just take about the belt or drive shaft.. to do that u must loosen the diff but not alot.. when its out.. titen it up again

I did it to my TL-01, & it was near impossable to drive, even at 1/2 throttle flooring it would cause the ass to skip out & the car would start doing doughnuts. As for FWD forget it, It was soo crazy i had no control at all. Oh, I don't think the 13t double helped much.
:D

ive done it twice to my micro rs4. once with stock motor and 4 alky's and once with the 6cell pack and stock motor. it was horribly uncontrollable both times. having hard, dusty tires on slick floors prolly didnt help any though:D

SteveK, why dont u just take out the belt/shaft and the front dogbones/swingshafts so that its completely rwd and no removal of diff is needed? Oh yea.. my car gained about 5 mph, thats about it. I drift better with rwd and lowering ride height in front to about 3mm. Other than that 4wd is better at handling.:)

to the first guy, its easier to do donuts with crappy tires. Why would you use good tirws to do donuts?

There the only tires I got left. I mean I didn't convert my car to 2WD so I can do donuts, I did it to see If it would go any faster. (which it did)

One of the CVD hubs broke on my xxx4 and my LHS was out of them (just in time for the main). I had to take out the other front CVD and run a xxx4 2WD. It made the worst handling ever!
