I am thinking about getting an Evader BX - nothing too expensive, just something I want to mess around with when my XXX-NT is out of commission. Just in case I would want to race it, would I make a fool out of myself if I took it to the track?

If you check out the March 2003 issue of RCCA, theres an article on pg 176, on making your DuraTrax Evader race-ready.

I think if you just buy a XXX or B4 you would save money in the long run versus trying to hop up a Duratrax car to be competitive.

Yeah but I really don't want to spend that much money - I'm trying to save up for a car :D.

If the Evader is not raceable so be it, it's primary purpose for me is not racing anyway.

Thanks for the input

If you just wanna bash with it and play around, its a great buggy, not to mention the warranty on the stuff you breaks is really exeptional from them as well.

Anything is race-able with a good driver if you ask me.A couple of weeks ago a guy came down to our track with a Traxxas Rustler(not a bad car at all,it just doesn't handle as well as a Losi or AE), and wanted to race in our stock class,he had in a stock P2K motor and he was a excellent driver, no doubt about it and it showed, a 2nd place finish above 3 Losi's and a AE only a Kyosho to beat him. What a weird night. I placed 4th with a Losi, pretty bad for me.Well back to the subject, anything is race-able with a good driver!:D

Everything is raceable, though some are better than others.

The Evader BX is a descent buggy and in the right hands can be driven as fast as anything else. Unless you are competing for a national championship or world championship I wouldn't worry much about racing the Evader.

It sounds like you are going to be doing mostly club racing where it's generally the best driver that wins the race, not the best car.

It sounds like you are mostly a nitro guy anyway so it should serve your purpose fine. Just figure out what class you want to run in: stock, spec, mods and get an appropriate motor and ESC if you are going with modified motors.

in the Duratrax section of this forum, under the Evader BX thread, i've listed a TON of info on that buggy... i've also listed direct lap time comparisons with the Associated B4.... read about the last 4-5 pages of that thread, and you'll learn all you need to know about the Evader BX.....

and yes... it is very competitive with minor mods... very durable, and easily one of the best bang for the buck r/c's on the market....

peace out... :)
