So...took a ton of my trucks out today. See if you guys can spot what I broke on my E-Maxx. It's hard to see so you'll have to look closely.

I was jumping the truck...got about 5 or 6 feet off the ground and probably flew about 50 feet, but the landing was a little rough. The chassis was already cracked back there. I don't think it would have broken a chassis that wasn't already severely weakened by age (it was the chassis off my original E-Maxx) and hard use.

I am looking for a chassis for my emaxx. I dont want to break it in half like that one. LOL I am looking at the fastlane extended or the gorillamaxx. Does anyone run either of these or have any other suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I need to get one on order within the next week or so.
Thanks

I'll slap my brand new stock chassis on there since I already have it. I don't really want to have to throw more money at the stupid truck, but if I break it again I'll probably try out the FLM chassis. The downside of that chassis is that I've already dropped a lot of money on stock length aluminum chassis braces and whatnot, and if I get the FLM chassis, those were a waste. We'll have to see though. I think a new chassis that hasn't been hammered for years will hold up pretty well.

I have a traxxas emaxx and i kind of converted it into a rockcrawler.....locked diffs front and rear and 55t motors....my problem is that i caint keep the stock driveshafts from twisting into peices....it just has so much torque....i know u can buy cvd/dogbones for them but dont wanna spend that much $$$...so i was wanting to know if the revo driveshafts will work????..if not what will and what are my options????

Yeah I got an HV 4400 the other week with the new sintered rotor. Man that thing will roll out. It was all good untill I put a spool in the rear. I got it out on the pavement at work and layed into it and snapped both axles in half. LOL
Just ordered my FLM ext chassis. But now Im thinking the lipos im getting will fit right in it. Does anyone have this chassis? I need to see some better pics of it than what I can find on google. Any help would be great.

My guess is that nowhere has it in stock yet since it's so new. Sometimes when Pro-Line announces a new product they're almost ready to ship, but usually they're about a month or month and a half from hitting the stores. Usually it's about 3 weeks to a month, but it just depends. I do agree that the new Baja Bug bodies look pretty sick though. Pro-Line did a wicked good job with them.

The Lightning is a 1/8 buggy from Hot Bodies. The diffs are from that. They're intended to go in these (http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail.php?prod=FLM18700&cat=47) bulkheads. They're not direct replacements for stock.

It'd be damned stout for sure, but it's pricey, and the diff gear ratio is different than stock, which means you have to figure out spur/pinion combinations all over again. That's hardly a big deal, but it is worth mentioning. If you're nuking the stock diffs all the time and have the cash, it is definately a fix for the problem. 1/8 diffs are A LOT stronger than Maxx diffs. I don't think you'd ever have problems with those.

03-06-2007, 04:40 PM
Many of the guys on the rcmonster forum agree that the hot bodies diffs are better than the ue diffs. I'll be picking up a set of them with the combo bulkheads for my maxx pretty soon.

Maxx42
03-06-2007, 08:19 PM
I'm not familiar with the dynamite cvd's. I used to use rd logic cvd's and then switched to mips. The mips should be compatible. Maybe someone else can verify if the dynamite cvd's are compatible with the ue or hot bodies diffs, or you could even try searching the rcmonster forum. I'll check that forum myself to see what I can find.

So...finally got the truck put back together after the last mishap where I broke the thing in half. Got my new body painted and mounted up too. I went with a really fancy paint job for this thing. Check it out.

It ran like a champ, I actually ran the first set of packs dead and got the truck really dirty in the process. See!?!?!

I was amazed that I hadn't broken anything...but of course, the luck couldn't continue, so here's what I broke today...
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q68/metalry101/RC/E-Maxx/emaxx20.jpg
Ya...that's an idler gear. I didn't even strip the gear like last time, I actually broke the damn thing into three large chunks, and of course a couple other little pieces. Hell ya!

That seems to be the only weak point in the tranny. Since I upgraded to the steel idlers, I've run a 7XL on 4s lipo and now a 9XL on 5s lipo without any problems with the tranny. I read somewhere that it was reccommended to upgrade the idler gears when using the HV maxx motors (along with all driveshafts including to the wheels and the center ones). Those Novak motors sound like they put out a lot of power.
Bigseth, I couldn't find any info on whether or not the dynamite cvd setup is compatible with the hot bodies diffs. I imagine they would be, and even if the drive cups from dynamite don't fit, I'm sure that the cvd's would work with other drive cups.

I got on RC-Monster's board and asked the guy about that. He said he should have 100 more some time this weekend. I might buy his because he's got really fast shipping and I've heard nothing but good things about his customer service, but at the same time, I think the UE idlers are probably a bit better.
Metal- What diffs are you running? The truck looks real nice.
Thanks! I'm running the stock diffs in Integy housings. I figure the stock ring and pinion is stout enough that if I put it in a housing that won't flex and allow the gears to pull away from each other, they should hold up well. I do plan on upgrading to aluminum diff cups with 3mm screws instead of the stock plastic cups with 1.5mm screws if I manage to break them, but until I do, I'll run 'em stock.
I will get you all some pics of mine up tonight. So you all can ckeck it out.

Ya, they do suggest it, I just hadn't gotten around to ordering them yet.
I'm pretty happy with the amount of power I'm getting out of my 6.5HV. I would like to see a bit more speed, but I definately don't have any complaints about the power. There's more than enough power in the thing to throw my heavy-ass truck around like a doll, yet it's not so much that it becomes completely undrivable. I haven't really paid any attention to temps yet, but I don't think it's getting very hot at all, so I might try bumping up my gearing a little bit to get some more top end when I'm playing in big open areas.

I don't think you'd have any problems with the bones fitting in the 1/8 outdrives. It's possible, but not very likely. I'd think they'd be loose if anything. Most 1/8's use a pretty massive bone.

Very pretty - what kind of springs are those ?
Bigseth
03-11-2007, 05:18 PM
Yeah thats the fastlane chassis. I had a Supermaxx but it was really thin and not well desgined IMO. I wasnt impressed at all with it and the batteries didnt fit good in it either. I really like the FLM though, its much thicker and alot stronger, everything fit perfect and I didnt have to modify a thing. The only thing about the FLM is I wish it was polished like the supermaxx. But it really doesnt matter since I mostly bash with it.
Im glad I only gave 80 buck for the supermaxx. I sold it for that as well then I found out it was like $400 bucks. Oh well I guess I should have looked into what it was worth and gotten a little more money out of it.
Those are Integy progressive rate springs. The browns are 2nd from the stiffest spring. I can tell a big difference in handleing over the stock linear springs.

Hey guys, been running my maxx lately with two, 6 cell Racers Edge 3000 stick packs. They arent anything special, just some $20 sport packs. I would say as of now, 1st gear is about 10-15mph, and 2nd gear is around 15-23mph.
Is this normal? I am a speed demon/basher. I just ordered 14 cells, which I will make for the emaxx. They are Tenergy 3800's. Im just wondering, what speeds should I be expecting? Is this normal?
Are there any cheap upgrades that may lighten the truck, or anything else to speed this thing up a bit? I am expecting to be able to pull some backflips off my ramp, so I would like this to have some good pickup/topend. I dont really want to go BL now, just looking for some other conversions like maybe the big 970 motors, or dual 700's.
PLEASE help, ALL HELP is appreciated much in advance.
Thanks

That's the way I have my emaxx steering set up. I've used 2 servos for a while now. It performs better than it used to, but I feel that with a single high performance servo you will have the same if not better results (in my converted MGT I use a high tec 5955).
