Nice. I wish I had your aluminum fabrication skills! I am basically doing the same thing with pieces of flat lexan made into brackets attaching to the rear body mounts on the Malibu body with screws and to cut body mount poles on the chassis. Should be enough grip for anything short of outright bashing. I have also tested an outer coat of Krylon's crystal clear acrylic on the Malibu body, which seems to have worked, giving a nice gloss to the car's color, while also hopefully providing a modest level of scratch protection.

I didn't, it's just sitting on there at the moment. Usually what I do is make brackets (below) that attach to the shock towers and use Velcro. Works great, and no holes!

You can do anything with a Jigsaw and drill... :)

Good call on the clearcoat, never even thought of that. That's a great idea!

My tool collection's lacking for hobby work...drill and a dremel is about it for me now.

I bought the Krylon when I was trying to figure out how to get a gloss to match the lexan when I painted the exterior of the HPI body to cover the hood issue. The Krylon did not work on the lexan very well on a test piece, so I just got a paint sealer/wax and put on the hood portion. After I put a few scratches on the Malibu body in a pretty easy test run in my driveway , it occurred to me to try it as some form of protection for the soft plastic, especially the top lettering/flag. Seems to work, and brightens up the color. Thanks for your feedback.
