The building was standing and looked as 'good as ever. Now they have started to clear the trees on the right hand side as you drive in and around to the area where we race. I wonder what's going to go in there? I heard that HomeDepot is coming to Kvegas but not in that spot. Oh, I bet it's going to be the new Target. Exactly what we need, more congestion.
Now that you mention it, that is what I heard, tree removal and something about a road to connect the parking lots.

12/12 We had about 10 people out there today tops. Some good laps, mostly electric ones.
2 issues coming up... I don't think that they will race during the winter, I just don't see it happening with the 1/18 track up in the shop and we all know that the building is sold and we will probably have to move into the parking lot of the hobby store. That's not really a bad thing, I don't think. Parts will always be available and more people will be driving by the hobby store than the Kmart lot. Until then.
I talked to Mike Sunday and going forward, if you go out on Sunday and the Kmart track is not set up go to the shop and check the parking lot in the back. For those that do not know, the shop is at 113 N. Main St. in Kernersville. It is a few doors north of Mountain st. Phone is 336-992-2411
call if you get lost or are wondering if we are running.
As things change I will try to get them posted here as fast as possible.
Right now Saturdays is the day we are running micros at the shop, though you are welcome to come and run whenever the shop is open, $5 a day is the going rate. In case of inclement weather on Sundays they may be running micros at the shop.

1/2/2005 We Are Now Racing At The Hobby Shop In Kernersville. The Parking Lot In The Back Of The Shop At 113n Main Street. We Are Only Racing Electrics Since We Want To Be Respectful To The Residential Areas Surrounding It. During The Winter There Will Be No Sunday Racing If The Weather Is Not At Least 50 Degrees. I Also Want To Invite You To Our Saturday Racing Inside The Shop For All 1/18 Scale Cars Throughout The Winter And All Year !!

I am new to R/C racing and I went out to the shop with my wife today after church. I was really impressed by the track set up and more importantly by the way the other racers and the shop owner Mike welcomed me. I have decided that when I finish building my car that I will run the K-ville track on sundays. I enjoyed meeting everyone there this afternoon and I look forward to coming out to join in on the fun soon. Thanks again to everyone there this afternoon for answering my questions about R/C cars.

hey bro! welcome aboard! you were the brother with the CEN right? jerry/greg...(darn memory!) my name's pete (donnie - by law). i had the white car with the castrol red/green decals. the track was to my liking/loving (as always) mike and i seem to have the same taste in layouts. got a chance to break-in the pro4. (thanks mike). not bad...even tho it has a semi-carpet set-up on it with a one way. a few scratches on the chassis from the bumps, but still awesome. (it's a RACE car right?). once i put those nickels on the car it flew! i almost hate i didn't bring enough batteries. but i didn't want to push my luck. (gotta save it for carpet). you guys have fun out there! i'll be in ever-so-often to trade some paint!!

Since I'm very new to the RC hobby I wanted to ask all of you if you know of any tracks within the region. I've heard of concrete or asphalt oval tracks down in Biscoe and Badin Shores Resorts. I've also heard there was one several years back in the Tyro area. Does anyone know of these tracks? I do know the track in King that resembled Charlotte Motor Speedway closed down a few years ago. I'm interested in asphalt or concrete road courses but I do love the challenge of a good on-road oval too. If anyone can help out on finding other tracks in the region, please let me know.

1/9 I don't know if they raced. I actually had something come up after church and couldn't make it to the Saturday or Sunday races.
Christianracer, We would love to have you. I was out there the Sunday you were. My TC3 is a purple and silver car. My other body is the stock tc3 with a church punks sticker on it. King has some good races. Someone races at a grocery store in Greensboro that I heard of and if you check out KC Hobby in Archdale, they usually have information on tracks. I love racing with Mike and the guys. Have been doing it since about week 3.

Thanks for the welcome. I just got my car finished tonight after waiting a couple of weeks for repair parts. My front suspension on my GX1 racer broke, sending it into the wheel of a parked car. I got it put back together, complete with a Chevy Monte Carlo body and a set of HPI racing slicks. If the weather holds up, I'll be at the track Sunday, looking forward to run with you guys. I think for now, I'm going to run exclusively at K-ville just to hone my skills because to be honest, I'm an untested rookie at this hobby. I've enjoyed the limited exposure I've had so far. Anyway, see you Sunday if weather permits.

Hey guys, it's me again. Another part broke on my CEN GX1 racer tonight. To tell the truth, it's a decent car but not very durable or well built. After discussing this with my wife, I've decided to trade the thing in for a different brand of RC Car. I want to stay electric 1/10 scale 4WD On-Road but since I'm new to this hobby I don't know what brand to go with. I am wanting to get as far away from CEN if possible. I want something that I can find parts for in hobby shops locally, instead of having to order them on line. I also want something that can be serviced within the area as well. I know some of you can help me on this. Thanks.

racer...i'm sorry for the frustations you've been having with your car...as far as electrics go i can only think of two cars: tc3 and T1r from x-ray.
the tc3 is a popular car. very easy to go fast quick. also...if you walk in just about any hobby shop around, you'll find parts. so to me that's a plus. on the down-side, it's a bit brittle. the c-hubs and a-arms can't take too much of a beating. especially the graphite parts.(shaft-drive)
the x-ray T1r is a very good car too. high qaulity, durability and completeness are it's high points. parts are not as readily available but easy to get. (B & D hobbies in burlington is your best bet. they have x-ray stuff on the wall at all times). the car is double tough and can take a hit. so it's almost perfect for a racer getting his/her driving and tuning skills up. the only down-side i see to this car is batteries. it uses a saddle-pack configuration. so sport pacs and pre-assembled pacs are more difficult to use with this car. happy hunting!!! Pete.

1/23 No racing. 30 degrees. They raced 1/18 inside today.
I agree with Nomac! The TC3 does rock but I always have at least one broken arm or piece on it. I just glue it until it can't be glued anymore. Come and buy a 1/18th car and race with us on Saturdays. I love my 1/18 car and it was $80 new in box. All I did to it was $17 of foam tires and I finished second place this Saturday in the Stock class.

bad... i did the off-road thing tonite in charlotte. had a blast! 4wd mod is tha' shizzle! i definately gotta go back next week! car felt better every heat.(even tho i kept getting slower. had to do tha drift thing for the kids.hee hee) bad batteries kept me outta tha main though. but k'ville is asphalt. i run with the nitro vehicles there too. brain and his guys are top notch.
i like the track cause it's close by. only 25 minutes to get there. plus it really lets me stretch out my legs with this MINDBLOWN power i've been using. ;). if you'd like to come, i'll be more than happy to give you directions. as far as the mission is conscerned. my bro hooked up with a fella here in high point. (once again close by) i thought he would be happy with the arrangement....but his joy was watching that xxx-4 jumping OVER an 8th scale nitro!!lol
brad.....remember the rinky-dinky 12/3 EPIC arm you gave me last year? well, i set it up lay-down style, threw in some OLD putnam green/red brushes, tossed in some reedy copper springs, and de-cogged the brushes a bit and set out to practice. and i kid you not dude....that thing was KILLER!!! people keep tellin me the car was fast. i thuoght.. "REALLY??!!..this motor is barely good for 19 turn practice!" i guess it was the smooooth powerband it put out. if the buggy was "raceable" to me , i would have put in that FLATWIRE* 10/1. THAT WOULD HAVE REALLY COOKED THEIR GOOSE!!! some have never seem a 4wd buggy run before. at least 4 people were so stoked that they said they'd bring one next week-end. two i think want to buy new ones! i don't see why...my driving totally sucked!! it was like having the pro4 a cary for the first time(ugh!!). i just gotta get the extra dough to buy 3 more good packs. that should get me through to the end of the points chase. (which i entered in pro 4WD mod- wish me luck!) and yes i lost another pack of 3300's. so i'm out. all i got is two pacs of 6 year old 2400's. lol keep in tough ok?
cash...i don't know about you...but i've been bit by the dirtiest dirt-bug in the land!!!! flying 8 ft in the air izzzzzz...su-weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!!!! can't wait til we can hook-up at RC Speed for some dirt thrashing.

Pete, lol, Glad you had an awesome time my friend. Sounds like maybe a few of those nitro guys might of scratched their heads after seeing you run :D I believe you about the 12x3. I found one of the craziest setups you've ever seen using one of my 12's. If I told you to gear it like it was stocker after I tuned it and set it up you would probably tell me I'm crazy huh? I'll have to show you one of these days. It's unreal. I want to meet up with you when you run dirt again. Just let me know when and I'll be there. ;) I'll see if I can drag Ca$h out of the house and bring him with me. lol Anyways, glad you had a great time yesterday. I'll catch up with you asap. Later!

brad...had a blast! i took the modar apart today and checked for wear. from the looks of it....i could have run it another 12 times or so! that EPIC wind was sooo efficient! i geared it 92/21 on a xxx-4. there was NO burning at all! when i get the car right, i'll bring out that FLATWIRE*. i plan on going down again this week-end. if you can get cash( and a few other electric guys) we could have our own race. nitro trucks and 1/8th scale is the "thing" down there. but just like doo-ham...we ask other racers what they wanna vote on - and we do it. trust..they'd rather see you race than go home.lol
i could only hope i sparked enough intrest for more electrics to come out. king don't run for another month so i HOPE more electrics will show. if not then i guess i can run with the nitro guys. but it'd be a real shame to go out at this time...it's too early! I AINT GOT MY FUSION POWER YET.. LOL!!!!! ;)

Hey guys, wanted to say hello! I just picked up a Duratrax Evader ST (electric) on ebay and got it working last evening!
(Motor was cutting out on it...good whack with a wrench and it would run, heh!)
I went by Kville r/c after seeing an ad in Bill/Leahs but they had a sign on the door, closed until Wednesday!
I am hoping to hook up with some local folks for a little mild 'racing' until I learn the ropes! The guys at the Custom Hobby shop on High Pt rd seemed to be more into nitro than electric...
Anyway, will be lurking and looking for places to play/practice in the triad area! I work in Greensboro, live in Kernersville! (Anyone know if hobby park has tracks for us or mostly r/c plane stuff?)

Hey guys, wanted to say hello! I just picked up a Duratrax Evader ST (electric) on ebay and got it working last evening!
I hope you are still interested in RC!?
My experience with Duratrax is that it is really low end quality and can discourage anyone who doesn't know what they are getting into.
Anyway, will be lurking and looking for places to play/practice in the triad area! I work in Greensboro, live in Kernersville! (Anyone know if hobby park has tracks for us or mostly r/c plane stuff?) Hobby Park needs a lot of work if it is to be an offroad track, but it is a good place to go and bash. A few more months and I will be hanging out there occasionally. It is about 45 miles for me :( since I live east of Greensboro, west of Burlington.

Hay Guys if any of you are looking a place to race the rc speedway runs every other sunday. the web sight is www.thercspeedway.com if any of you want to check it out.
I was pretty bummed when we had to stop running outdoors in k-ville and now the shop is closed and we can't even run the micros anymore so I I went down and checked it out last week. I should have done this a long time ago! Broke my car during the second qualifier heat, but I had a great time doing it! It's a great facility and a great bunch of guys.
I have my car back together and am heading back next weekend to have another go at it. I've even dragged my nitro cars out and might bring them with me though I think I'll stick to one class a day for the time being. I'm all fired up again thanks to the folks in Durham. Now if only I can make it through an entire day without breaking....
see you this sunday!

Matt. Good to see you posting on the old board. I sure do miss the hobby shop. With King and KC there wasn't room for another one. Mike hung in there for so long. Sorry to see them go. We are actually moving next week. We bought a house outside of Welcome and I just bought another TC3 so that I can have my own races. I am done with competitve racing for a while. I have the 2 tc3's, Stampede and 3 airplanes and the Streetforce. Too much fun stuff to stop totally.
